Coach’s Turn: Mike Shanahan At The Mic

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan addressed the media this afternoon at Redskins Park less than 24 hours after the franchise dropped to 0-3 for the first time in 12 years.

Marred by controversial calls, the Redskins let the fourth quarter slip through their hands and when the final whistle blew; the Lions escaped Washington, D.C. for the first time as victors.

Each week there’s been a different culprit for the woes and that didn’t change in Week 3 as turnovers inside Lions territory robbed the Redskins of scoreboard changing drives.

Veteran wide receiver Santana Moss, who led the team in receiving with 77 yards, has been a professional for 13 seasons and knows from firsthand experience that losing the turnover battle severely restricts a team’s chances at victory.

“Turnovers are going to kill you every time,” he said. “You can’t expect to lose the turnover battle and win. Whatever team turnovers the most, that’s the team that loses.”

Anyway, here’s all that Shanahan had to say courtesy of the Redskins’ Twitter account (@Redskins):
