Player’s Turn: Robert Griffin III At The Mic

Going into today’s game, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III knew that this would be, perhaps, his biggest test of the year. Playing at Lambeau Field is never easy but add to that the fact that the Packers were having a homecoming of sorts for their alumni, it was their season opener and conditions were reminiscent of last year’s Steeler game, and you had a storm of difficult proportions to overcome.

While the Redskins came out empty-handed once again, the offense started clicking in the second half. The next chance at putting together four effective quarters will come next Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

In the meantime, Griffin III addressed the media following today’s 18-point loss and said he will never play the blame game and will work harder than ever to get the team its first win of the season next weekend:

“I’m the quarterback and the responsibility falls on me.”

There are 52 Other Players on this TEAM and two other Quarterbacks who are ready, able and willing to play. This is not a one person TEAM and the responsibility falls on to the 53 Players who are on the Roster of the Washington Redskins.

I was concerned about all of the Media Hype and comments made about “the second coming, waiting impatiently to play”, etc…and here it is. The Future is Now, and Now it is time to step up and Play and live up to the words that were spoken. If you are not physically or mentally ready to step up, it may be time for you to step back and let others step up and play…it would be the right thing to do.

I believe in this TEAM and am confident that the wins will come. Sometimes it takes losing to appreciate winning. I think that this TEAM has lost enough and is ready to turn this Season around.

This TEAM can and it will!

RGIII is a great man and quarterback, however it is obvious that he is not 100 percent. As long as he has to wear a hard brace the other team knows he is not a running threat. That threat is what makes the offense click. His team mates also fear that he is going to get hurt again which diminishes their performance. Let the man heal so he can play without a hard brace on his knee. Its a bitter pill to swallow but it has to be done for the sake of RG and the team as a whole. 40 plus year Redskin fan. GO SKINS

The mental aspect of returning from something like an ACL repair is as important as the healing itself. I have no doubt the Robert has worked extremely hard to “physically” prepare for his return to playing quarterback. Nothing can prepare you mentally, to drive off that injured leg, to stick in in the ground and cut hard off of it and to not flinch when people are falling all around you and really trying to hit you. Robert ran out on the field Monday night and he was not wearing a yellow “don’t touch me” jersey. I love this kid and he will return to being the RG3 we loved last year (I believe he’s actually still that guy). It is just going to take a little time for the trust and confidence to build up within himself and his body. He is the heart and soul of this team. The only way this continues to get better is to keep playing. The sky is not falling. Our future still looks bright as long as we have a guy like Robert leading this team. I am so thankful we have him leading our team, especially during the tough times. Don’t give up on Robert because you are going to see that in a few weeks, when RG3 is back all the way, how you should have never doubted this kids character….. RG3 IS the man! He’ll show you!

RGIII needs to throw more. As soon as he started passing, they gained yards.
