Pierre Garcon Extends Touchdown Pledge

Before the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, Pierre Garcon vowed to donate $2,500 for each touchdown he scored to the family of Tara Sanker, an eight-year old who is battling brain cancer.

While he was unable to score a touchdown against the Eagles, Garcon decided that he wasn’t going to stop his pledge there. In honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the six-year veteran has extended his pledge through the rest of September.

Gallery: 81 Years Of Redskins-Packers

Tomorrow will mark the 34th time the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers have tangled. It will also be the first of possibly many Robert Griffin III vs. Aaron Rodgers matchups. When Rodgers came in, the NFL landscape for a young quarterback was completely different.

Your mission—sit, sit and sit some more. Eventually when the time is right we’ll hand the ball over to you. Of course that is no longer the case as the last three draft classes have had multiple rookies start right away and break records.

Regardless, on Sunday afternoon fans will be treated to two of the league’s premiere quarterbacks each with their own unique playing style. Both teams, which have won a combined seven Lombardi Trophies, understand the importance the man under center has on a winning culture. With names like Sonny Jurgensen and Joe Theismann for the Redskins and Bart Starr and Brett Favre for the Packers, some of the league’s greatest have donned gold pants.
