Coach’s Turn: Mike Shanahan At The Mic

For the first time since being hired as the head coach of the Washington Redskins, Mike Shanahan enters Week 2 without a one etched in the win column.

Last night was Shanahan’s fifth season opening loss and the first since 2006 when his then Denver Broncos lost to the St. Louis Rams 18-10. While the frustration of a loss to a division rival that won only four games last season was tough to swallow, there are still 15 more games on the schedule and the slate has been whipped clean once again.

The focus now shifts to a Green Bay Packers squad that is jam-packed with offensive weapons and a defense that boasts a Pro Bowl level linebacking corps. Last week however, the defense gave up an unprecedented 579 yards of offense to the 49ers.

Anyway, Shanahan took a brief break for masterminding his Week 2 gameplan to chat with the media about his team’s Week 1 performance along with the abovementioned Packers game.
