245 days after the last regular season game at FedExField, football is back and against a division rival at that.

Give yourself a pat on the back for making it through the last nine months. I know it wasn’t easy and I’ve heard a few of you kept waking up with cold sweats in the middle of the night, but that’s all in the past now. Of ESPN’s crew of experts, all but Trent Dilfer selected the Redskins to come away victorious this evening.

The Eagles called tails and won the opening toss. They elected to receive to start the game.

It looks bad to start the game as Michael Vick and Co. were driving but due to a strange series of events, veteran cornerback DeAngelo Hall scooped up a loose pigskin the was batted down by Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. What looked like an assured fruitful drive for the Eagles quickly swung in favor of the Redskins. Just like that is was 7-0 Redskins. Think momentum isn’t big in football? Did you hear the fans singing “Hail to the Redskins”?

Anyway, here’s how the rest of quarter unraveled:

Eagles 1st Drive:

Kicker Kai Forbath boots the opening kick deep into the end zone for a touchback. Already progress from last season.

1st and 10 <20: Michael Vick connects with Riley Cooper for six.

2nd and 4 <26: Vick connects with Brent Celek for 48.

1st and 10 >46: Vick connects with DeSean Jackson on a screen.

1st and 10 >30: LeSean McCoy gains six.

2nd and 4 >24: Vick has time in the pocket but it unable to connect with the intended Celek.

3rd and 4 >24: McCoy gets the rock but can only gain three.

4th and 1 >21: McCoy gets the first down.

1st and 10 >17: Vick scrambles looking to hit a receiver in the end zone but pass falls incomplete.

2nd and 10 >17: McCoy gains 13.

1st and Goal: Vick has up to three Mississippi but pass deflected by Ryan Kerrigan…but wait its a fumble! DeAngelo Hall scoops it up and takes it the distance! TOUCHDOWN! What a bizarre yet amazing play.

Forbath’s extra point is GOOD! Redskins up 7-0. And just like that he is also 2-2 on touchbacks.

Eagles 2nd Drive:

1st and 10 <20: Cooper in motion…Vick connects with Jackson for 26 yards. First career tackle for Bacarri Rambo.

1st and 10 <46: McCoy gains a first down. David Amerson with his first NFL tackle. Congrats rookies!

1st and 10 >44: One-yard gain for McCoy.

2nd and 9 >43: Bryce Brown gets seven.

3rd and 2 >36: Brown gets seven again.

1st and 10 >29: Cooper in motion. Vick overthrows Jason Avant.

2nd and 10 >29: Vick’s pass behind tight end Zach Ertz. Incomplete.

3rd and 10 >29: Vick rolls out..finds Ertz..but it comes out. Incomplete. E.J. Biggers in on the play. BUT the Eagles are going to challenge the ruling on the field. In an area of concern all season long, the secondary has looked out of sync so far. It hasn’t helped that the pass rush hasn’t been able to generate much either. Ruling CONFIRMED. Sayonara first timeout!

4th and 10 >29: Alex Henery in for the field goal attempt. Kick is good. Redskins still up 7-3. His ensuing kickoff was handled by rookie Chris Thompson but it was out of bounds. Touchback. Here comes Robert Griffin III.

Redskins 1st Drive:

1st and 10 <20: Pistol formation…handoff to Morris who fumbles. Recovered by the Eagles. Besides the fumble return for a touchdown the Redskins have been slow out of the gate.

Eagles 3rd Drive:

1st and 10 >25: Play action fake…hits Jackson in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Extra point is also good. Eagles up 10-7.

Thompson takes a knee on the next kickoff.

Redskins 2nd Drive:

1st and 10 <20: Morris gets the carry but looses three.

2nd and 13 <17: Fred Davis in motion…Griffin III connects with him for first completion of season. BUT unit is called for illegal shift.

2nd and 18 <12: Shotgun….Griffin III actually gets first completion this time. Morris with the reception.

3rd and  9 <21: Griffin III throws an interception. Intended for Santana Moss. Looked like it might have been forced. Two turnovers on two drives. Eagles have dominated the early stages of this game.

Eagles 4th Drive:

1st and 10 >48: McCoy takes the ball on a read option play and gains 16.

1st and 10 >32: Vick eludes Orakpo’s pressure and connects with Jackson. But a pass interference call on Avant pushes the Eagles back.

1st and 20 >42: Vick with the keeper nets two.

2nd and 18 >40: Avant in motion…down goes Vick! Please meet Perry Riley Jr., although that was all caused by Kerrigan bull rushing his way through the line.

3rd and 24 >46: McCoy gains seven. Well short of yellow first down line.

4th and 20 >46: Thompson fair catch.

Redskins 3rd Drive:

1st and 10 <5: Griffin play action pass incomplete. Intended for Darrel Young. Dropped it.

2nd and 10 <5: Griffin III’s pitch to Alfred Morris is fumbled. Safety. Eagles up 12-7. Three turnovers already.

Rocca’s free kick returned to 34.

Eagles 5th Drive:

1st and 10 <34: McCoy gains one after getting tripped up.

2nd and 9 <35: Vick nearly sacked by London Fletcher. He tried to throw it to Cooper as he was going down by he looked shocked it was coming his way.

3rd and 9 <35: Vick’s pocket crumbles but he scampers on out for a first down.

1st and 10 <46: Vick hits Celek.

1st and 10 >43: McCoy gains a few.

2nd and 10 >43: False start on Jason Peters.

2nd and 15 >48: Vick hits Cooper as Amerson was playing off. He and Rambo on takedown.

3rd and 7 >40: Orakpo gets right up at Vick and is nearly intercepted by Amerson. The rookie showed off his great athleticism on the play.

4th and 7 >40: Punt sails into end zone. Touchback.

Redskins 4th Drive:

1st and 10 <20: Morris gobbled up for no gain. O-line struggling to create lanes.

2nd and 10 <20: Davis in motion…finally a hole for Morris. First first down of the season!

1st and 10 <35: Young switches sides…Morris with another carry. Gains six. End of first.
