365 days ago the birth of perhaps the biggest star of the last two decades took place and it went completely unnoticed by NASA.
No press release, no alarming the public that is was going to happen. Nothing. Maybe it was the Superdome that was blocking the view or the millions of pointer fingers thrown up high in the sky obstructing the phenomenon, but in a burgundy and gold flash Robert Griffin III made the most memorable NFL debut in recent memory.
What all started with an 88-yard bomb to Pierre Garcon and ended with a celebration that as expected was coined its own nickname (“Griffining”), the former Heisman winning quarterback quickly lit up the New Orleans Saints en route 362 combined yards, a quarterback rating of 139.9 and a pair of touchdowns. More importantly, it was the first of nine wins for the rookie as he helped lead the Redskins to their first NFC East crown since 1999.
