In a little less than 11 hours, the 2013 NFL season will officially kick off when the Baltimore Ravens defend their Super Bowl crown against one of the Washington Redskins’ 2013 opponents—the Denver Broncos. More importantly for the millions of fantasy football owners out there, it means that the trash talking en route to a championship starts now.
If you were one of those smart drafters who took a Washington Redskin, here are final point projections for Week 1 [Note: these numbers are for standard scoring leagues]:
Robert Griffin III
CBSSports—22.4 (based on average)
CBSSports—16 (based on average)
I personally find it interesting just to see the differences in projections from one website to another. For example, while Alfred Morris is projected to get 10.10 points in NFL.com leagues, he’s has the 29th best (glass half full mentality) projection for Week 1. Conversely, ESPN has him ninth highest in their running back projections with 15 points. The same goes for Forbath who is the second highest rated kicker in CBSSports leagues but 23rd in NFL leagues.
Also make sure to check the waiver wire when you’re at work. As we all saw last year, you never know who’s going to steal the show in your league. Besides what’s more important, that project deadline or triumphantly pumping your fist knowing you got the next Morris?
The answer is obvious.
