If you saw rather large men running down the streets with a bobsled this weekend in matching uniforms it may or may not have been the Washington Redskins. After all I’ve heard summer is the best time to practice for the Winter Olympics.
Sure it felt more like the middle of July than September, but as Derice, Sanka, Junior and Yul taught everyone in the mid 90’s, it doesn’t matter how high the mercury rises on the thermometer as long as you have your team.
So as the rest of the team wore various (and somewhat hideous) Hawaiian shirts to an island themed party, Josh LeRibeus, Adam Gettis, Kirk Cousins, Ryan Kerrigan and Tom Compton found some extremely large spandex body suits and paid homage to Cool Runnings. Mon trust me when I say you’ll never see a pushcart team like this anywhere else.
“Tom texted me a few days before it happened,” LeRibeus said. “And he was like ‘Hey I’m thinking we should do a little Jamaican bobsled action thing for the party and do you mind being or John Candy’ and I was like ‘oh yes’ [does a fist pump].
“I was like all I have to do is shave, I can do that no worries.”
Now the first thing that sprung into my mind was where do they actually make full body spandex suits that big?
“They got them online. The thing that actually hurt us is Adam ended up with a XL and it was a little tighter than usual [laughs]. I was just glad I was the coach and not one of the [bobsledders].”
Oh and for the rest of those less bobsledding inclined Washing Redskins and what they wore? Well thank Niles Paul for being Instagram’s biggest user.
Hi Adam Carriker.
Hawaiian shirts? That’s so 1959.
As for who’s the greatest pushcart driver in all the land?
“Out of that group…Adam. He’s got that lower center of gravity.”
It must be that extra tight suit giving him some added aerodynamic boost.
