For the third consecutive season, the Washington Redskins will close their preseason slate with a tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The last two have been Redskins victory to include a 24-22 victory in 2011 where the burgundy and gold orchestrated their first game-winning drive of the season in the waning minutes and a 30-3 walloping last season where Kirk Cousins picked apart the Buccaneers defense and Roy Helu Jr. pounded his way to pay dirt twice.

In total, the Redskins and Buccaneers have played each other 20 different times in the regular season and postseason, the most recent being this 24-22 victory at Raymond James Stadium in Week 4.

You hear that booming in the background?  No, no that isn’t the famed stadium pirate ship letting out one of his cushy footballs after a Buccaneers touchdown. That’s the sound of Redskins fans rejoicing after an always nail-biting, down to the wire victory over the Buccaneers.

In the last eight regular and postseason battles between the two NFC foes, the final score has seen a margin of victory no higher than seven.

Of course Throwback Thursday wouldn’t seem right without this unearthed gem from 2004:

Exciting indeed.

    1972 Washington Redskins undefeated season

I have a pewter plate that says
“Washington Redshins Superbowl Champions January 14th 1973”.

I was employed by the May company 1972 &73 and I purchased the sample plate from the assistant buyer of the china department. There were only ten sample copies of the plate, one for each of the ten May Co stores in the Washington Baltimore area.
Unfortunately as you know The Washington Redskins lost the super bowl January 14th 1973.
Would you please be so kind as to give me your thoughts on the plate’s value.

    Thanking you in advance,

    I am Dennis L. Taylor
