It seems like just yesterday, we were rhinestoning our audition outfits, rehearsing routines, and preparing for Final Auditions. Time has flown by and before we knew it, it was time for our first home game at FedExField against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Amanda: As a rookie, you spend countless hours in and outside of practice learning and perfecting “snippets”, sideline routines, end zone choreography, and game day etiquette! There is so much to know, and we want to look our best.
Adriana: As a veteran, game day preparation includes even more responsibilities. We’re expected to lead the way and set the example for the rookies. I have to be sure I’m on top of my game so that I can also help those around me that don’t really know what to expect.
Amanda: Game day was just as magical as veteran and alumni cheerleaders describe. Running out of the tunnel onto the field for the first time, I felt such a rush of emotion. Of course I was nervous, knowing that this is one of the largest crowds I have ever performed in front of, but I was so excited that the day had finally arrived! I worked so hard to earn my spot on the team, and I have worked even harder to earn my spot on the field!
Adriana: Even though this is my third season, it never stops being a thrill dancing on the sidelines so close to the action. I still get butterflies in my stomach performing in front of so many fans. The first home game is always exciting and intense no matter how many years you’ve been on the team.
It has been an amazing journey so far, and the football season is just getting started. It is such an honor to wear the burgundy and gold and dance alongside such beautiful, talented women. We look forward to cheering the Redskins on to another victory!
