Another year, another snubbing in the uniform catergory.
While the Washington Redskins uniforms have remained untouched over the last three decades (putting throwback uniforms and burgundy on burgundy to the side) their classic burgundy and gold uniforms aren’t exactly at the top of the NFL uniform hierarchy on Uni Watch.
Being a uniform aficionado myself, I must admit that I gander on over to uni watch from time to time to see what going on in the sports fashion world and what I found this morning wasn’t too pretty on the eyes (and no I’m not talking about what we witnessed on Week 8 last season).
So where do the Redskins’ getups rank out of the 32 NFL franchises?
According to uniform wizard Paul Lukas (seriously this guy finds everything from patch boarders to the change in color of cleat tips) the Redskins uniform set is the 19th best in the NFL or for those of you who like to pit everything against our division rivals last in the NFC East.
Here’s the complete list:
As mentioned this isn’t the first time the burgundy and gold ranked in the bottom half of the league. The Redskins ranked 17th during last year’s NFL campaign and 62nd across the four major sports.
If you go off of assumption and think that Lukas’ top four of the Bears, Packers, Raiders and Steelers are based off of their iconic digs that never seem to vary you’d have to wonder why the Redskins aren’t higher.
On a more eyeball pleasing note, Redskins fans and their HD televisions won’t have to suffer with the thought of ugly uniforms. The Redskins play/played the top 11 uniforms.
