All accounts of the inaugural Richmond Training Camp at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center are that it was a rousing success.
When you move 250 tons of steel products, 120 iPads. 90 more than fully grown players, and countless other staffers and volunteers you’d expect a few glitches in the process. There were none.
From the first day when thousands chanted “R-G-III” so loudly that Ashburn could hear it to a record 25,000 fans that squeezed into the Bon Secours Training Center at the annual Fan Appreciation Day, Richmond showed that even though this was the first year the burgundy and gold were in their territory, their fandom stays in midseason mode.
Don’t forget the tropical temperatures too. From my account, the temps only hit 90 degrees or higher twice.
We may want to redefine “training camp weather” while we’re in Virginia’s Capital for the long-haul. Then again I don’t want to jinx it.
Anyway, after the last of the Redskins’ 29 practice sessions in Richmond, the players took to Twitter to thank the Richmond for housing them for 23 days.
