Xavier Nixon Is Ready To Erase Any Jitters

For veterans such as London Fletcher or Pierre Garcon, tomorrow’s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans is just business as usual.

They’ve been around the block countless times before and while they’ll probably trot out for a few snaps, the reality is they’ll step aside for the younger guys to get exposure as they fight for a roster spot.

One of said younger players is undrafted offensive lineman Xavier Nixon. Obviously, Nixon won’t be lining up in the middle of Jim Haslett’s 3-4 defense nor will he be running any slant routes, but he will be getting his first NFL reps on an offensive line loaded with battle-tested veterans and second year pros.

Nixon, who worked with dual-threat quarterback Tim Tebow during his freshman year at the University of Florida, is ready to show that he can translate his game to Washington’s high octane offense.

Santana Moss Just As Smooth Off Field

When Santana Moss first came to the Washington Redskins in 2005, the world was a much different place. Sure there were cell phones, but those clunkers seem so obsolete compared to the currently popular iPhones and various Galaxy phones.

Twitter, Facebook and Instagram? Well we’d have to get through Myspace and the always difficult top eight friends dilemma first before knowing those platforms.

Throughout the entire technology craze though, Moss has stood the test of Father Time.

While I doubt he is still trying to figure out which friend will be lucky No. 8, Moss has taken to an apparent offseason career of modeling as his Instagram account (eighttodanine) shows.

Redskins Are Must Watch Preseason TV

Normally preseason matchups aren’t considered the most fundamentally sound or will ever make any greatest games in NFL history list, but they serve as a very important evaluation stage for the coaching staff.

Over the coming weeks the Washington Redskins, and every other franchise, will have to make the difficult decisions on cutting players loose to get their rosters down to only 53 men.  As we saw last season, even the deepest roots embedded in the franchise can been nipped.  It’s just the reality of the sport.

Having said that, NFL.com has believe it or not, released the top 10 preseason games to watch.

Now I wouldn’t be writing this article if the Redskins didn’t appear so here’s where they are:

Storylines That The Titans Are Following

Unless you live with a Tennessee Titans fan or have that one friend who loves to talk about their late 90’s run, chance are you know very little about the team.

The Washington Redskins only play them once every four years during the regular and they haven’t been seen around these parts since 2006. So yeah, it’s okay to admit you know very little about them besides their interesting uniforms.

Anyway, on the eve of the two team’s clash here’s what some of the Nashville media is saying:

Guards LeRibeus, Gettis Wait Their Turns

The Redskins’ quarterback play was not exactly spectacular in 2011, but Rex Grossman and John Beck didn’t receive much help from their offensive line.

Injuries–coupled with a high-profile suspension–exposed a severe lack of quality depth. Offensive line coach Chris Foerster was forced to shuffle the lineup more than a half-dozen times that season.

It thus made perfect sense for Mike Shanahan to select two versatile offensive lineman in the 2012 draft. Enter guards Josh LeRibeus (SMU, 3rd round) and Adam Gettis (Iowa, 5th round), who would ostensibly crack the Redskins starting lineup sooner rather than later.

But a funny thing happened on the way to the stadium. Read more »

Don’t Miss: Cousins’ Google+ Hangout

Posted by Stephen Czarda on August 7, 2013 – 10:02 am

Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has experienced much during his short NFL career. In a matter of minutes he successfully dissected a Super Bowl bound defense, is undefeated when starting and has written his own book.

What he has yet to face since being drafted here last April, though, is a press conference featuring only you, Redskins fans. Until now.

Cousins will be the next participant in the team’s Google+ Hangout Series on Monday (August 12th) at 6 p.m. EST.

Signing up is easy. All you have to do is the following:
