Day 8 of training camp 2013 is officially in the books!

Speaking of books—for those of you who are coming to Fan Appreciation Day tomorrow, you better not come empty handed. If you do, you’ll miss out on a great opportunity to help the local community and the chance to win sign Redskins memorabilia.

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation is partnering with the Children’s Museum of Richmond Book Bank to put books in the hands of Richmond’s youngest.

Quick Byte From Redskins Training Camp

Thanks to a helicopter assisted drying process, you wouldn’t even know that it poured multiple times yesterday.

The fields are in great condition and the players are really starting to hit their strides after a few months away from organized football.

Entering his ninth season with the team, wide receiver Santana Moss has showed no signs of slowing down. Last season he led the team with eight touchdown catches and let Redskins fans know that he doesn’t plan on stopping there.

(Editor’s Note: Redskins fans love their team, there’s no doubt about it. You guys have shown out big time so far and as you’ll hear, sometimes loud cheering is involved. Having said that, you’ll want to turn your speakers down a little.)

Rookie Spotlight: Jordan Reed

Each day during training camp, the Redskins Blog will be highlighting one rookie as they participate in their first professional camp and try to find their way onto the final roster. Today’s spotlight is on tight end Jordan Reed.

This time three years ago, Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed was attending quarterbacks meetings at the University of Florida.

Fast-forward to today, and Reed is learning the ropes of both his new position and the NFL under veterans Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen.

Despite being a supremely talented dual-threat quarterback during his high school days, Reed knew that a move was necessary to keep his NFL dream alive.

“I had a better chance of making it to the NFL as a tight end,” Reed said. “[Even] though I was recruited as a quarterback.”
