The strong get stronger. That’s the case this morning for the Washington Redskins as it’s been announced that the team has signed 10-year veteran linebacker Nick Barnett.

Barnett, who spent his first eight years with the Green Bay Packers, led the Buffalo Bills in tackles last year with 112 (72 solo).

In a Week  5 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2011 season, Barnett picked off Michael Vick twice to include a return for touchdown in the second quarter.

Here’s video of both interceptions:

While not at the level of new teammate London Fletcher yet, Barnett has started all 139 games he’s appeared in and will work with Fletcher and Perry Riley in the middle of Jim Haslett’s 3-4 scheme.

In his career, Barnett has amassed over 1,000 tackles, 42 passes defensed, 20.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, seven fumbles recovered, six fumbles forced and a horde of local media that will follow him after today’s practice, rain or shine.

We’ll have more from him later, but for now please welcome him to Redskins Nation on Twitter (@NickBarnett) or comment below.

Enjoy razzing on your Eagles coworkers this morning.
