Richmond has really shown the Washington Redskins just how much they love the team through the first week of training camp.
Inside the Bon Secours Training Center, fans have packed the facility at every possible corner to get a glimpse of the 2013 squad. Outside of it, local restaurants and stores have posted signs with warm welcomes, best wishes to the team and the occasional “HTTR”.
The crowds, saturated with burgundy and gold, are filled with favorite Redskins memories from the days of Sonny Jurgensen to the most recent victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Nicole Frambach, however, has very few Redskins recollections. Despite braving the elements yesterday during the afternoon practice session with everyone else, she didn’t come just for a look at 11-on-11 drills.
The Washington Redskins were pit stop No. 20 on her 99 day excursion to her 30th birthday.
Frambach, a native of Charlotte, NC, said that she got the idea from one of her friends who is getting married on the same day as her birthday.
“[A] friend of mine is getting married on my birthday. I always joke around saying ‘oh you’re throwing me a big party and oh, that’s a beautiful dress you’re buying for my birthday,’ so she e-mailed me and told me It’s 99 days until my birthday so we should do something cool.”
She’s doing 99 reasons she loves her fiancée, and I’m doing 99 new adventures, and it has to be something I haven’t done before.”
With a full-time job that requires travel all over the East Coast, it’d be easy for Frambach to get behind on her to-do list and eventually bow out from her exploratory ways.
That thought has never crossed her mind.
“I know I’m going to do this,” Frambach said. “There has been one thing I missed, but Monday through Thursday it’s hard to do stuff after work.”
I haven’t done anything too extravagant [yet]. I’ve made cheese. I made mozzarella cheese. I’ve gone indoor climbing. I’ve tossed a watermelon off the top of a building. I did the Wobble at the Indianapolis Airport. I recently built a birdhouse. I want to catch a falcon. I am going to shave an alpaca. There are some different places in Ashville [NC] I want to go to. My coworkers and I are going to have a huge food fight in someone’s yard. I want to do some tours and hold up a ‘free hug’ sign.”
Not extravagant at all.
She originally came to Richmond on business, but with an extra day to explore the city she scoured through the Internet looking for cool things to do. That’s when she discovered that the Redskins are in town.
“I was researching things to do in Richmond and I thought it was awesome to go to an NFL training camp,” Frambach said. “I love football and I can’t wait for football season.”
While her birthday falls just one day short of the Redskins-Bears game on October 20th FedExField, she wants Redskins fans to help her come up with a grand finale on the 99th day.
“I haven’t come up with that spectacular thing yet, but anything football would be good.”
