A waterlogged practice field didn’t stop the Washington Redskins from practicing today and it most certainly didn’t prevent head coach Mike Shanahan from his daily press conference with the media.

Practice Happenings From Day Seven

After the morning session, a pretty strong band of storms swept through the Richmond area, drenching the practice fields in the process. For a while, it seemed like we might have our first weather-delayed practice.

Luckily, the storms pass through rather quickly and by the time the players left the locker room for practice, the sun was already shining again.

With one week to go until the first preseason tilt, the players are jockeying for depth placement and really ratcheting up their level of play.

The Redskins’ Twitter account (@Redskins) has the lowdown on how the afternoon session is panning out.

Brian Orakpo

I saved the best of today’s videos last.

The linebacking core is the heart of Jim Haslett’s 3-4 and after the signing of 10-year veteran Nick Barnett, everyone’s wanted to see how he’s looked so far.

Here’s your first glimpse of him in a Redskins uniform.

The sloppy weather that Richmond has dealt with over the past 24 hours really makes the wide receivers concentrate more on their fundamentals.

Despite slightly unstable footing, the unit didn’t drop a single ball during this segment of drills.

This afternoon’s 45-minute downpour really soaked the Bon Secours Training Center, but the rain moved out shortly before the afternoon practice session began meaning you get another sneak peak at training camp from your office cubicle.

Mother Nature is a Redskins fan.

Anyway, today’s video series start with the quarterbacks and running backs warming up together.

Robert Griffin III’s TD Run No. 5 On Top 100

Posted by Stephen Czarda on August 1, 2013 – 1:42 pm

Robert Griffin III

The 2012 season, for the most part, is an afterthought these days. While the season was filled with memorable moments, the NFL is a what have you done for me lately league.

Still, it’s fun to look back at the season that was from Robert Griffin III being drafted to the guys celebrating their NFC East championship into the wee hours of the morning at FedExField.

Oh did I leave out Griffin III’s 76-yard touchdown run?

Instead of boring you with usual written review of Griffin III’s epic touchdown run (the second longest by a quarterback since 1996), here’s some reaction both before and after NFL.com’s fifth best play from 2012 starting with Larry Michael, Voice of the  Washington Redskins.

Birthday Adventure Makes Stop At Camp

Richmond has really shown the Washington Redskins just how much they love the team through the first week of training camp.

Inside the Bon Secours Training Center, fans have packed the facility at every possible corner to get a glimpse of the 2013 squad. Outside of it, local restaurants and stores have posted signs with warm welcomes, best wishes to the team and the occasional “HTTR”.

The crowds, saturated with burgundy and gold, are filled with favorite Redskins memories from the days of Sonny Jurgensen to the most recent victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Nicole Frambach, however, has very few Redskins recollections. Despite braving the elements yesterday during the afternoon practice session with everyone else, she didn’t come just for a look at 11-on-11 drills.

The Washington Redskins were pit stop No. 20 on her 99 day excursion to her 30th birthday.
