As we patiently await the arrival of training camp (15 days away), we are forced to look a little harder to find out what’s going on in the lives of the Washington Redskins. Thankfully, social media provides us a great window into their lives off the field.
In their free time, Redskins players have accomplished and seen many different things this offseason.
Last week’s Social Media Spotlight reviewed Adam Carriker’s treasure seeking companion, Nick Sundberg’s travels around the world, Aldrick Robinson’s dedication to charity, Chris Chester’s thoughts on the offseason and Josh LeRibus’ Goo Goo Dolls experience.
This week is no different. Today, we dive into offensive lineman Kory Lichtensteiger’s golf outing, quarterback Kirk Cousin’s wardrobe “malfunction”, tight end Niles Paul’s gift to his old high school, a little bit of motivation from Adam Carriker, and of course, quarterback Robert Griffin III’s wedding.
Similar to way a majority of men do when on vacation, the Redskins have been hitting up the links during their time away from the gridiron. Despite the time for some extra practice, Kory Lichtensteiger seems to still be having some trouble with his tee shot. Apparently one of his shots went awry and struck a nearby house. I would like to send my regards to whoever’s house was the victim of what I would picture to be a Happy Gilmore-esque rocket shot from the tee.
This week, Kirk Cousins was on the market for a new pair of jeans. During his outing, No. 12 tweeted this photo of a pair of pants that were supposedly in his size. While he claims that jeans are being made “wayyyy too tight” these days, his tweet did get over 200 favorites. It appears that at least a few of his followers thought they were a good fit.
Niles Paul, typically known for being one of the funnier and active social media gurus out there, shared something a little different with his fans. He released a photo of the new uniforms that he donated to his old high school, the North High Vikings.
In 2012, Adam Carriker ended the season on injured reserve. As he continues to remain dedicated to his rehab, Adam has a little bit of inspiration for his followers. Hopefully, with a mindset like this, we will see Adam back on the field, better than ever, in 2013.
One of the biggest news stories around the Redskins this week was the marriage of Robert Griffin III and his fiancé Rebecca Liddicoat. Robert announced on twitter, after the wedding, that he would be taking some time off to enjoy his honeymoon. While this will give me less to bring to you guys next week, I figure he’s got a good enough excuse to take some time off. Congratulations Robert and Rebecca!
