With 22 days until the start of training camp, the Bon Secours Training Center won’t be alone in making its debut to Washington Redskins fans.

Former University of Georgia Bulldog Bacarri Rambo will be participating in his first training camp after being drafted by the Burgundy and Gold in April with the 191st pick.

With 16 career interceptions during his time in Athens, the safety has a share of the school’s all-time interceptions record along with former Super Bowl VII MVP Jake Scott (who finished his career with the Redskins).

Rambo’s extensive, ballhawking resume has been well documented through the years, but what hasn’t been known by most is his nickname.

Until now.

Redskins Nation, let me introduce “Goo” Rambo.

Martin Mayhew’s Short, But Impactful Stint

[With the start of training camp just a few weeks away, we are taking a look back at some “under the radar” players from year past. Today I take a look back at the career of cornerback Martin Mayhew. While his career with the Washington Redskins only spanned four years, his 13 interceptions helped the Redskins remain one of the most dominant teams in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.]

Last year the Washington Redskins record 21 interceptions (third most in the NFL) behind a veteran laden defensive unit headlined by London Fletcher, Josh Wilson and DeAngelo Hall.

To build off the opportunistic, turnover generating defense from a year ago, the Redskins drafted three defensive backs who love to snag pigskins from helpless wideouts and quarterbacks.

While it is still to be determined if any of the first years players will crack the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 9th, if one does, it wouldn’t be the first time a rookie defensive back made noise for the franchise.

This is the story of Martin Mayhew.

Chris Chester Is Never Truly Out Of Sight

Hopefully the rain that is currently hovering over the Washington, D.C. area at the moment will be long gone by this time tomorrow as the DMV, along with the rest of the country of course, will gather around pools, grills, and wherever else you convene with friends and family to celebrate the United States of America’s 237th birthday.

Happy (early) Birthday, USA!

For those of you who decided to take off this hump day and use it as prime vacation time for a five-day weekend, I hope you are using it to get away and are perhaps reading this on your smartphone at the beach.

If you are oceanside, there’s a chance you might spot Chris Chester–and maybe Robert Griffin III?

Alfred Morris On Training Bud, Year Two

Well before running back Alfred Morris capped off his record-setting performance in Week 17 last year against the Dallas Cowboys with a one yard touchdown in the waning seconds of the contest, he was a star for one of Florida’s “lesser” known teams—Florida Atlantic University.

It was there where he rushed for over 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns to include a 198-yard, four touchdown performance in the Owls only win of the 2011 season (sorry guys).

While Morris officially calls our Nation’s Capital home now, he occasionally packs up his beloved “Bentley” and heads south to the Sunshine State to catch up with friends and family.

The sunny locale was also the spot of his 12-hour-a-day (not an exaggeration) training grounds with a fellow 2012 NFL Draft pick—Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
