Redskins Social Media Weekly Spotlight

Posted by Jared Ross on July 1, 2013 – 3:00 pm

As we wait for football to start back up, in what I like to call the offseason’s halftime, or the time between Organized Team Activities and training camp, the players are enjoying their time away from the football field.

Thankfully, with calendar’s flipping over to the month of July, we can gladly say that football is back this month!

Last week’s installment of our Social Media Spotlight series covered Josh Morgan’s fluffy new workout partner, a young Chris Baker, another chapter in the life of Mr. Outdoorsman (Reed Doughty) and more. If you did not get a chance to read last week’s Social Media Spotlight, check it out here.

In this week’s edition we follow players through different continents, their quests for treasure and more.

Today, we will discuss defensive lineman Adam Carriker’s treasure-seeking dog, offensive lineman Nick Sundberg’s travels through Europe, wide receiver Aldrick Robinson’s dedication to his community, offensive lineman Chris Chester’s thoughts on the offseason and offensive lineman Josh LeRibus’ trip to a Goo Goo Dolls concert.

We have always known that Adam Carriker is quite the character. This week, on twitter, he let his followers in on a little secret, his treasure seeking hound (at least that’s how I want to think of it). However, his companion must have hit a dry spell, because according to Adam, things haven’t been going as well as he would have hoped.

Nick Sundberg’s Twitter has been rather silent recently, which is uncommon for the Redskins’ long snapper. He checked in this week, though, and let his followers know the culprit behind his social media disappearance–a vacation to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. As part of his apology to Redskins Nation, he sent out several amazing photos from his travels to include this one of the Eiffel Tower.

Aldrick Robinson, known for his deep threat playmaking ability, showed off this new trophy for his collection on Instagram. Robinson, who provided a local youth football team with jerseys this season, was given the autographed trophy by the team.

After two exciting series in the NBA Finals and NHL Stanley Cup Finals, three major league sports have entered the offseason (NBA, NHL, NFL). This week on twitter, Chris Chester dubbed this part of the year the “sports dry spell.” However, on a brighter note, there are only 24 days until the start of Redskins Training Camp!

Last season’s third round draft pick, Josh LeRibus had been anticipating this past week’s Goo Goo Dolls concert for quite some time. Over two weeks ago, the offensive lineman tweeted out about his excitement with a picture a Goo Goo Dolls CD. Judging by his tweets during the show, it appears the concert lived up to the hype.
