With just a little over one month until the Washington Redskins pack up their belongings and head over 100 miles south to Virginia’s Capital, the hype surrounding this team steadily grows with each X mark off another June day on your office calendar.
With a trio of rookie defensive back ball hawks, Alfred Morris promising that his debut campaign was just a stepping stone to Alfred 2.0 and the return of Kerrakpo, the 2012 NFC East champs have no shortage of storylines to follow.
Oh did I forget to mention that guy named Robert Griffin III?
This time last year No. 10 had only taken the field in his yellow practice jersey and with knowledge that he was going to be used sparingly in preseason (31 pass attempts), Redskins Nation circled September 9th versus the New Orleans Saints on their calendars as a day reserved for the couch and the perfect time to put on a Griffin III jersey.
Second drive in—he had everyone “Griffining” and that includes NFL.com’s countdown of the top 100 plays from 2012.
When the free agency flood gates opened last year the Redskins snatched up Garcon to be the team’s No. 1 wideout.
Quickly he built a rapport with Griffin III throughout the team’s offseason activities and when the games actually began to have meaning, the duo showed just how lethal they would be together.
No. 10 found No. 88 for his first three NFL completions for a combined 21 yards.
What happened on completion number four, though, can be summed up with two fingers pointing high in the sky.
