After being selected with the 173rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, former FAU running back Alfred Morris packed all of his football gear and belongings into his ‘Bentley’ and headed north to our Nation’s Capital.
Morris had called Florida home dating back to his Pop Warner days, so moving away from the Sunshine State to the uncertainties (weather included) of a new area had No. 46 nervous yet ready to prove that he could call the Washington Redskins “home”.
With a record-breaking debut campaign in his back pocket, the running back gave an indication as to why he ran for 845 yards at FedExField last year—it’s all about the burgundy and gold.
Morris took a break from OTAs earlier this week to chat with the guys at the Dave Dameshek Football Program, giving his thoughts on a variety of football topics—to include his favorite Redskins uniform.
While the Redskins spit time last year between three different uniform tops and bottoms, he still loves the team’s classic look—it is after all the same uniform combo he wore when he kicked the Cowboys out of playoff contention.
“I like the burgundy jersey and gold pants to be honest with you. That’s my favorite,” Morris said. “When I see that on Sunday I’m like ‘yeah.’”
Now Morris and the gang celebrated the Redskins lengthy history of success last November with throwback jerseys complete with helmets designed to look like the old school leather noggin protectors as the topper. While the unis were a different shade from the normal burgundy and gold seen every day, Morris still enjoyed wearing them—even if it was a one-time deal.
“I actually also [liked] the throwback jersey’s they put on us that one time,” Morris said of the uniforms. “We probably won’t wear [them] again because we kind of stunk it up against the Panthers, but I found those uniforms interesting.”
So Redskins Nation what is your favorite uniform combination?
