On Monday, NFL Hall of Famer and former Washington Redskin David “Deacon” Jones passed away at the age of 74.
While Jones will mostly be remembered for his contributions to coining the term “sack” and eventually forcing the NFL to make it an official stat (maybe by telling them he’d take them down too), his contributions to the game extended well beyond smacking quarterbacks around at will.
Jones bullied offensive lineman to the tune of 173.5 sacks, but what few will point out from the 6-5, 272 pound lineman’s playing days is his flawless extra point percentage.

Last week I presented to you ProFootballTalk’s final 12 nominations for the team’s official Mount Rushmore.
Narrowing the list of the 12 greatest in franchise history (well a few more than a dozen due to the Hogs) was an already arduous process—but then trickling it down to four?
Anyways, the following four men were voted to the Burgundy and Gold’s Mount Rushmore by Mike Florio—with some expected heated discussion afterwards.

Over the next week, the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders will be providing behind-the-scenes access and first-hand-accounts of their 2013 Calendar photo shoot in tropical Costa Rica.
For today’s shoot diary entry, we check in with Taylor, who is a rookie Redskins Cheerleader. She is ready to make Redskins Nation proud:
Good morning Redskins!
Today was another beautiful day here in Costa Rica, were I woke up for my morning shoot.
During the walk to the makeup room, I came to a standoff with a skunk who attempted to spray me.
Luckily my cat like reflexes came into play, and I ran away in the nick of time. It’s always a surprise of the animal life I will be greeted by.
