Thompson Ready To ‘Prove Critics Wrong’

The Washington Redskins selected running back Chris Thompson out of Florida State in the fifth round (154th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Coming out of High School, he was widely considered as one of the top all-purpose players in the country displaying both the quickness and versatility that would make any opposing tackler quiver in their cleats.

Thompson’s addition has some fans excited about the prospect of a ‘Thunder’ and ‘Lightning’ duo in combination with last year’s stud Rookie of the Year candidate, Alfred Morris (also a former ‘AMA’ participant).

Whether or not the above situation unfolds on the field remains to be seen; however, Thompson appears to be motivated to prove his critics wrong and today was just the next Redskins player in line to take part in a reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview hosted on the NFL subreddit.

In case you missed it, we’re bringing you some of the highlights from yesterday’s chat which included topics ranging from the transition from former Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel (Buffalo Bills) to Robert Griffin III and the name he would give to his feature dish at an NFL themed restaurant.

So keep reading and, trust us, you won’t be disappointed!

Here’s a quick recap of some of the AMA questions/responses from Thompson and his fellow redditors:

Blair9123 asks: “I know it’s a little down the road, any games this season you’re particularly looking forward to playing? And why?”

Thompson: “One game I am looking forward to is against the Vikings. I have a few college teammates that are on the team. Xavier Rhodes always challenged me at practice because he THOUGHT/THINKS he is faster than me so now that we will be opponents hopefully I can show him finally. HAHA”

Fordy_Oz asks: “At 5’8” and 187 lbs, how will you respond to people who say you are too small to play running back in the NFL?”

Thompson: “Show by my actions. Been told that all my life so I’m used to it. Prove them wrong.”

Bengals asks: “What was your most memorable moment during your career at FSU?”

Thompson: “My head coach coming to the hospital after breaking my back and giving me a little toy truck his youngest son wanted me to have that was one of his favorite toys. I keep it with me everyday.”

n8thaiwarford asks: “Hey Chris, how has the transition been from EJ Manuel to RG3?”

Thompson: “I’ve been surrounded by greatness for 4 years and still counting.”

BarbSueRoberts asks: “If an NFL themed restaurant were to name a dish after you what would it be called?”

Thompson: “Ok…so I wore #4 my last year at FSU so a lot of my former teammates and friends call me C4. So I wuld say C4 could be a flavor of wings. EXPLOSIVE!!!!!”

And in case you’re wondering, Thompson had this to add when saying so long to his followers: “Thanks for having me everyone! I have to run, but don’t worry, I plan on coming back someday.”

Seeing as we had to pry the computer from Thompson’s grip (like an oncoming linebacker trying to strip the football), we can safely assume that you’ll be hearing more from the rookie fifth-round pick in the near future.

Stay tuned for more!
