When the 2012 season kicked off last September all eyes were on a star-studded rookie class looking to translate their college success to the pros.
With Andrew Luck looking to fill the shoes of another Indianapolis quarterback legend, Robert Griffin III revolutionizing what signal caller can do behind center, and Trent Richardson looking to become the next Jim Brown for the Cleveland Browns, everyone wanted to see just how talented the top-three picks in the draft would play in their NFL debut campaigns.
Did anyone outside of our Nation’s Capital (and the Big Easy) flip to the Redskins-Saints game to see Alfred Morris?
Well they had no choice but to watch Morris cap off his amazing rookie season in Week 17 where he saved his best for last—200 yards, three touchdowns, a franchise record and a key to the Redskins bringing home their first division title since 1999 on Sunday Night Football.
Now entering the 2013 season the 173rd overall pick is being compared to the 3rd overall pick for the right to be called the best tailback of the 2012 class.

Welcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.
Last week’s Social Media Weekly Spotlight consisted of an inspirational quote from defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins, an update on the progress of quarterback Robert Griffin III (from Griffin III himself), offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus visits RGIII in Texas, and safety Reed Doughty goes fly fishing with his son.
Organized Team Activities (OTAs) started last week and Robert Griffin III was on the field practicing off to the side and gaining “mental reps”. In fact, according to the rookie his wish for a separate space to toss the pigskin around with his fellow injured teammates was granted by head coach Mike Shanahan. A lot of positives came out of last week’s OTAs, you can check out a complete recap of practice notes here.
Following the practice sessions, players returned home to enjoy the Memorial Day Holiday weekend with friends and family but since then have returned to Redskins Park for Round Two of their three week OTA schedule, which is as follows:
- Second Week: May 28-30
- Third Week: June 3-6
But on wayward for this week’s spotlight which includes kicker Kai Forbath’s view of Redskins Park from high in the sky, undrafted free agent linebacker Will Compton giving credit where credit is due, wide receiver Pierre Garçon tweets he’s ready for game action, and cornerback Richard Crawford gives his thoughts on something we’ve all been guilty of at least once or twice in our lifespan.

With a pleasant Memorial Day weekend behind us, it’s time for America to get back to the daily grind of a typical work week.
The Washington Redskins are among the masses who are heading back to work as they are back at the Park for another week of OTAs and with news that it is 100 days until the start of the 2013 regular season (104 for the Burgundy and Gold) the hype surrounding the Redskins Monday Night Football opener is starting to gain speed quicker than Robert Griffin III in the open field.
Before we preview the Redskins season opener against the 2012 last place Eagles, we want to look back at the lopsided season series that was against one of Washington’s biggest rivals last year.
While we all know the story of Griffin III’s perfect quarterback rating in the 155th meeting between the two squads, let’s take a look at four players who deserve recognition for helping the Redskins sweep the season series against the Eagles for the first time since 2008.
