While playing at Michigan State, Redskins Kirk Cousins, became the winningest Spartan quarterback in school history. His accomplishments carried over off the field as a four-time All Academic Big 10 selection. He was presented the 2011 Senior Class Award, which is given to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in the NCAA Division I FBS.

When Cousins was drafted by the Redskins, County Christian School’s Athletic Director Tony Pangle believed Cousins possessed¬†many traits that made him a phenomenal role model for his student athletes to look up to.

“We knew that he had a balance between academics and athletics which is what we strive here to make sure that we emphasize, I just knew he was the guy,” Pangle said.

Cousins gladly accepted the invitation to be the keynote speaker for County Christian’s Athletic Banquet. The banquet is an annual celebration to honor the student athletes for their hard work during the school year.

“Hopefully I will motivate these students to want to put the effort forward in school and hopefully will inspire them, it’s a gift to use the platform as a NFL quarterback to make a difference,” Cousins said.

Cousins delivered a very memorable message to 150 people, he shared stories about the game he loves football and his passion for his faith.

To make the night even more special Pangle presented Cousins with an honorary No. 12 County Christian School jersey.
