The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed 12 college free agents to battle it out for a chance to join the 2012 NFC East champs.

One of those players is Florida offensive lineman Xavier Nixon.

Nixon will join his college teammate Jordan Reed on an offense that features record-setting sophomores Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris.

Ask Nixon his thoughts on blocking for the duo and I’m positive that he jumped in excitement higher than No. 10 himself did at the 2012 NFL Combine.

With a college career that included paving the way for another Heisman-winning quarterback, find out what the former Gator brings to the Nation’s Capital here:

Redskins Make Upgrades To FedExField

On December 30, 2012, your Redskins welcomed the division rival Cowboys to town in a game for all of the marbles. After all was said and done, the burgundy and gold defeated Dallas 28-18 to claim the NFC East Championship and the team’s first playoff berth since 2007.

Seven days later the Redskins trotted onto their home turf of FedExField to host Seattle in a home Wild Card Playoff game. With the conclusion of the draft and the heart of free agency behind us now, the Redskins are preparing for a regular season slate that features five primetime games, three of which are against the NFC East.

Last year, the Redskins were featured in three regular season primetime games, all against division foes, and went a prefect 3-0.

In two games against the Dallas Cowboys, the Redskins made them realize that their days of dominating the series from the late 1990’s and early 2000’s are over–and their chances at winning the division crown for that matter too.

Against the New York Giants they proved to the defending Super Bowl champions that they were just that–defending champs and nothing more.

As for the two games against the Philadelphia Eagles—well they weren’t slotted in primetime action, but they were two victories. We’ll still take it.

The Redskins current post-draft ESPN power ranking is not only a far cry from their bottom quarter selection a year ago, but it has the Burgundy and Gold’s rivals chasing them once again.
