One of the biggest–and often overlooked–storylines of the Redskins’ offseason is the rehab and return of starting outside linebacker Brian Orakpo.
It wasn’t long ago that Orakpo was the only consistent pass rush specialist on the team, and he was voted to a pair of Pro Bowls in those seasons.
Last year was his second season with bookend pass rusher Ryan Kerrigan, and it had the makings of a special season for the duo. Through a game and half to start the season, the two had collectively tallied three sacks before a pectoral tear abruptly ended Orakpo’s season.
Returning from a traumatic upper-body injury is hard enough, but Orakpo had to do so while his teammates went to the playoffs for the first time in his tenure in Washington.
You think he might be motivated to return at a high level this season? You bet your ‘Rak he does.
We’ll catch up with Brian Orakpo more next week, but for now, enjoy a gallery that puts you in the shoes of an opposing quarterback with a sub-par left tackle. Good thing he didn’t level our cameraman:
