Who Makes Cut For Redskins’ Rushmore?

Redskins fans unite to form the best fanbase not only the NFL but across the entire sports spectrum. That’s obvious.

No matter if it is a Robert Griffin III dazzling 76-yard touchdowna Darrell Green punt return, or John Riggins barreling over the Miami Dolphins determined to bring our Nation’s Capital its first Lombardi Trophy, Redskins Nation basks in the glory of the franchise’s success together.

What isn’t so clear, though, is every fan’s thoughts on the four greatest Redskins. Whether it is at the water cooler at work or at your local bar, debates rage over who are the best in Redskins history.

Put all the banter aside and let your voice be heard as to who deserves the prestigious honor of being on the Redskins’ Mt. Rushmore.

Brianne ‘Ecstatic’ To Wear Burgundy, Gold

Over the next week, the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders will be providing behind-the-scenes access and first-hand-accounts of their 2013 Calendar photo shoot in tropical Costa Rica.

For the third photo shoot diary entry, we check in with Brianne, who is entering her third year as Redskins Cheerleader. She is ready to make Redskins Nation proud again:

Hola de Costa Rica!

Today was our first day of photo shoots and as a captain, I was lucky enough to do two! We started our day with a team workout and practice for our show on Saturday night.

Hair and make-up began at 12 where Paige from our phenomenal hair sponsor, Robert Andrew Salon and Spa, did big, loose curls and Letitia did very natural, but dramatic make-up.

I was beyond ecstatic when Stephanie told me that I was wearing an outfit designed by our WRC alumnus Kelly Allen! It is such an honor to wear something she makes and even more of an honor to wear Burgundy and Gold!

Washington: Perfect Fit In Nation’s Capital

Over the next few weeks we will be looking back on some Redskins greats for their heroics on the field as well as off of it. Today, Redskins.com intern Jamie Lockie retells the tail of running back Joe Washington.

Long before the days of aggressive aerial attacks and passing records being set to only be shattered weeks later, the National Football league was scattered with a plethora of talented tailbacks in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Teams would anchor their offenses around a premier back that carried the brunt of the load.

The Washington Redskins, however, weren’t one of these teams.

Instead with the greatest offensive line in league history paving the way, the Burgundy and Gold incorporated a running back by committee approach into their plans. While Hall of Famer John Riggins was setting records and barreling over opponents, the efforts of Joe Washington was just as important in the Redskins getting their first Lombardi Trophy.

With another week of OTAs in the book the Washington Redskins are one step closer to kicking off their 81st campaign with all sights set on a fourth Lombardi Trophy in our Nation’s Capital.

Redskins second-round pick cornerback David Amerson stepped into the spotlight yesterday and into a gauntlet of Redskins fans that were ready to grill the rookie on his experience over the first few weeks in the burgundy and gold.

The 51st overall pick in the 2013 draft willingly accepted the challenge and intercepted every question thrown his way from the other end of the computer screen – participants ranged from Germany to right down the road in Ashburn, Va.

Anticipation is quickly building around Redskins Park with the second full week of OTAs ending and another cameo by a Redskins record-setter entering his second year.

Once again this NFL record holder took to the practice field at Redskins Park ready to show the media that he is ready to take his game to another level in year two.

Wearing a white jersey and burgundy shorts he was honing his skills that gained a cult following from Redskins Nation.

This man is none other than kicker Kai Forbath of course.

With talk of Alfred Morris morphing into Alfred 2.0 in 2013 (a scary prediction if you think about it) Forbath is ready to add to his fame from 2012.

His secret?

Nacho.

Philly QB Trusts His Speed Over RG3’s

As the Redskins Monday Night Football opener inches ever so closer to commence the start of the 2013 season, a delayed saga between two of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in NFL history may finally take place.

The highly anticipated Robert Griffin III-Michael Vick showdown was supposed to tear the house down last year as the two were going to trade highlight reel plays—except that never happened.

Instead, Vick had a front row seat on the sidelines to watch the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year gash Philly’s defense to the tune of 486 yards, six touchdowns, and two wins en route to an NFC East title.

No matter what stats Griffin III puts up, Vick boasts that he can beat him in one category: speed.

Thompson Ready To ‘Prove Critics Wrong’

Posted by Chris Herting on May 30, 2013 – 7:55 am

thompson_blog

The Washington Redskins selected running back Chris Thompson out of Florida State in the fifth round (154th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Coming out of High School, he was widely considered as one of the top all-purpose players in the country displaying both the quickness and versatility that would make any opposing tackler quiver in their cleats.

Thompson’s addition has some fans excited about the prospect of a ‘Thunder’ and ‘Lightning’ duo in combination with last year’s stud Rookie of the Year candidate, Alfred Morris (also a former ‘AMA’ participant).

Whether or not the above situation unfolds on the field remains to be seen; however, Thompson appears to be motivated to prove his critics wrong and today was just the next Redskins player in line to take part in a reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview hosted on the NFL subreddit.

In case you missed it, we’re bringing you some of the highlights from yesterday’s chat which included topics ranging from the transition from former Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel (Buffalo Bills) to Robert Griffin III and the name he would give to his feature dish at an NFL themed restaurant.

So keep reading and, trust us, you won’t be disappointed!
