Welcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.
Last week’s spotlight discussed why, and how, Kai Forbath says he wants to, and will, improve on last year’s historic performance, plus showed you, as tweeted by No. 94, Adam Carriker’s “cool” childhood toy, and Robert Griffin III’s gift to Adam Gettis! You can read it in its entirety here.
This past weekend was the 2013 NFL Draft and a busy weekend to say the least. The team draft seven players in total which included the likes of cornerback David Amerson (Round 2), tight end Jordan Reed (Round 3), safety Phillip Thomas (Round 4), running back Chris Thompson (Round 5), linebacker Brandon Jenkins (Round 5), safety Bacarri Rambo (Round 6), and last but not least, running back Jawan Jamison (Round 7). You can click on their names to view a quick profile of each player with highlights from their college days.
Since we already highlighted player reactions to the picks (rounds one and two; rounds three thru seven), we’ve chosen to focus more on how players spent their time off the field this past week/weekend.
In case you were unable to attend the Redskins Draft Day Party at FedExField, there were a lot of Redskins players in attendance including tight end Niles Paul (@Niles_Paul84) who took some time to sign autographs for fans!
Visit www.redskins.com for complete coverage from this weekend’s record-setting Draft Day Party. And thanks goes out to all 25,000 fans who were in attendance for a beautiful Spring day at FedExField!
We’re still waiting on Forbath’s final stat line but it’s good to see number two out and about being active!
The Redskins selected running back Chris Thompson out of Florida State in the fifth round. But did you know that Thompson’s little league football team was the Redskins?
Once again, welcome to the team Chris! You can follow him on Twitter @ChrisThompson_4. #LiveIt #DreamBig
For all of you NBA fans out there, the Miami Heat look to be the clear favorite coming out of the East and although the San Antonio Spurs have looked impressive nose tackle Chris Baker (@cbaker92redskin) says he has a new favorite team in the Western Conference.
Does anyone agree with #Swaggy?
Since we know you all may not care about whatever congratulatory words we have to say about last weekend’s draft, we’ll let quarterback Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) do the talking for us.
Good to see some of my childhood and college boys join the league this weekend. God is Good—

It’s an exciting time for many as they embark on their journey from college to the professional ranks. Good luck and congrats to all of the young men drafted!
