The Redskins recently held a Facebook competition for a chance to announce the Redskins fourth round draft pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. On Saturday, die-hard Redskins fan Amy Brammar boarded a 6:20 AM train northbound and made her way to Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
As she entered Radio City she met with various fans from other teams that had won the same opportunity. Naturally, Amy sent some lighthearted trash-talk toward fans representing other NFC East teams. And as expected they sent it right back to her – all in good fun.
Once the team’s fourth round pick got close, she was escorted to the official team table where she was able to sit with two members of the Redskins staff. One of Amy’s worries all day was that the Redskins would select a player who’s name was more difficult to pronounce than T.J. Houshmandzadeh.
“They welcomed me to the table. Told me to just take my time and read what’s on the card,” Brammer said the Redskins staff told her before she made the pick. “They were very supportive of everything I was up there doing.”
She even noted that they told her to ad-lib if she wanted to. In fact, she called the team the “all-mighty Redskins” and threw in a “Hail to the Redskins” at the end of her announcement.
Luckily for Amy, safety Phillip Thomas was the name written on the card – a generic and easy name to pronounce:
Amy, accompanied by her husband Marc, finished up the day with a dinner at Morton’s The Steakhouse and an evening out and about in New York City. Congratulations to Amy on winning this incredible experience and representing all of Redskins Nation with enthusiasm while donning her burgundy and gold No. 10 jersey!
