Third and Fourth graders at Springwoods Elementary School in Virginia were introduced to many working professionals at their Career Day. They met doctors, accountants, salespeople, but their favorite was meeting Redskins nose tackle Chris Neild.

“I had my own classroom and when they saw the helmets and the gloves the kids went nuts,” Neild said.

Forbath Looking To Repeat 2012’s Success

Historically, the Redskins haven’t had a franchise kicker since Chip Lohmiller left town in 1994 and in the middle of the 2012 season signed a little-known kicker from UCLA, Kai Forbath.

Forbath, however, booted away any misconception that the Redskins currently lack a franchise kicker after he broke the NFL record for most field goals to start a career and scored the final points to secure a victory over the eventual Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens.

With Forbath returning to Redskins Park for OTAs, he had a moment to reflect on his first season in the Nation’s Capital and was treated to a pleasant reminder of some of his best moments upon returning to his locker.

Kirk Cousins: The Boy Band Years

Posted by Brian Tinsman on April 22, 2013 – 12:07 pm

Cousins

via The Big Ten Network

Perhaps the highlight of the Kirk Cousins broadcast debut at the Michigan State spring game was his ‘work’ off the field. Way, way off the field.

It turns out that long before Cousins came off the bench to lead comeback victories for the Redskins, he was quite the crooner in high school. Kirk’s free time while attending Christian Holland High School was split between the gridiron and the auditorium, where he was a member of the Living Hope Singers.

And unfortunately for him, footage still exists.

I preface this video by saying longtime Redskins’ rival notwithstanding, my favorite look is with Cousins decked out in a cowboy hat. The pink-on-pink polyester outfit is a little hard to stomach.

Kirk may have missed the golden age of boy bands, but he has all of the musical styling of…well, you’ll have to decide for yourself. Cousins congenially describes the long-lost footage as “major blackmail material.” I’m sure his Redskins teammates will be understanding and supportive.

RG3 On Cowboys Game: ‘It Was Special’

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 22, 2013 – 11:36 am

Robert Griffin III

At the conclusion of the 2011 season, teams who were at the top of the draft board were looking ahead to the 2012 campaign and explored every means necessary to improve on records that were below .500.

The Redskins were one of those teams and held the sixth overall pick in the draft.

However, with two of the top quarterback prospects to come into the league in years including a Heisman-winner from Baylor, Washington was determined to land one of the signal callers to spark a revolution in the Nation’s Capital.

The Redskins traded up to the number two slot and landed soon-to-be AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III. No. 10 lived up to the hype and led the team to their first NFC East title since 1999.

That NFC East wouldn’t have been possible without a seven-game winning streak to end the season. The first two wins of that  streak (home against Philadelphia and at Dallas) showed the nation just how smart the franchise was for moving up to acquire Griffin III.

Griffin III sat down once again with Larry Michael on the set of Redskins Nation to speak on both games in the next segment of “10 Days with No. 10”.

Find out was was running through Griffin III’s head during his return to the Lone Star State here:

Cousins Makes Broadcast Booth Debut

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 22, 2013 – 10:50 am

Cousins TV

On Saturday, quarterback Kirk Cousins returned to his alma mater for a little Saturday visit.

While Cousins spent five years at Michigan State as a student-athlete for the Spartans football squad, he wasn’t there to retake control of the offense.

He wasn’t there to prepare for final exams again either.

Instead, No. 12 return to his home state to give the Spartans faithful a familiar voice…in the broadcast booth for the school’s annual spring game.
