Following Saturday’s Washington Redskins Cheerleader Final Auditions, the 2013 squad for the First Ladies of Football has been set.

For the ladies selected, this is the culmination of months of preparation and weeks of auditions. The remaining 38 women will fill out the 2013 Cheerleader calendar, rock the sidelines at home games, make appearances in the greater Washington D.C. community and make USO tours to visit military members deployed overseas.

For all returning members there is a link. The newcomers will be up on the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders’ official page soon.

RG3 On Redskins Nation For Next 10 Days

With news yesterday that the Washington Redskins had perfect attendance for their first day of OTAs, the 2012 NFC East champions are ready to make an even deeper run in the playoffs this year.

As the Burgundy and Gold prepare to make a run at a fourth Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, every single player is ready to get back to work and make sure that a seven-game winning streak to end the season won’t be necessary to play in January this time around.

With 100 percent of the players back at Redskins Park  that means that captain, record-setter, Heisman winner, or whatever title you want to give quarterback Robert Griffin III is back at it as well.

Griffin III sat down with Larry Michael on the set of Redskins Nation for “10 Days with No. 10” to look back on his first year in the NFL.

So, what does Griffin III have to say over the next week and a half about his freshman campaign, and which pair of socks did he rock during the interview?

A Look At How Your Redskins Were Built

Posted by Chris Herting on April 16, 2013 – 2:58 pm

shanahan

Earlier in the offseason, we wrote a blog post about how last year’s team embodied Team, Effort, and Tradition and the role that head coach Mike Shanahan has played in bringing in his mix of guys.

Coach Shanahan is entering his fourth season with the team and, although it’s been a process, he has been able to revamp the roster that was in place prior to his arrival in Washington. Only nine players remain from the previous regime. In fact, 65 of the 74 players currently on the roster are ‘Shanahan’s guys’ and with the April draft approaching fast that number is only expected to increase.

The roster changes, however, should not be viewed necessarily as a rebuilding effort, yet instead viewed as part of a bigger evaluation process in an attempt to build a team consisting of humble, hardworking, character guys.

After all, health and stability is the key to pass defense, offensive success and consistency on the field. Below is a breakdown of how the roster was built, including the 21 of 22 starters that the Redskins were able to retain from the 2012 NFC East Championship roster.

Grab a No. 2 pencil and get ready to update your Washington Redskins’ offseason roster.

The Redskins equipment staff released the offseason workout jersey numbers for the following newcomers in Washington. No real surprises here, and really not much intrigue to speak of. As the roster is pared from 90 to the final 53, these numbers are a very fluid situation, so be forewarned before buying your No. 22 Korey Lindsey jersey.

That’s not a shot at Lindsey, just an acknowledgement that No. 22 running back Evan Royster might have something to say about that.

Without further ado, here is the full and complete list of offseason workout numbers for the new faces in Washington: Read more »

Can 2011 Draft Pick Be Breakout Star?

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 16, 2013 – 10:09 am

Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss

This time last year, the Washington Redskins were preparing to select Heisman-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III with the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Even with Griffin III in the fold, few were picking the Burgundy and Gold to climb out of the cellar of the NFC East, especially with a defending Super Bowl Champion on the schedule for two different tilts.

Well we all know that the Redskins ended up being the breakout team of the 2012 NFL season, storming into the playoffs by the way of a miraculous seven-game winning streak to end the season and besting their division rivals with a 5-1 record against the NFC East.

With OTAs officially underway at Redskins Park, find out who ESPN’s Matt Williamson believes will be the breakout player for the 2013 campaign including a video of his best play of the 2012 season here:
