The “First Ladies of Football” held their final auditions for the 2013 Cheerleading squad on Saturday at the State Theater in Falls Church Virginia.
The final audition is a show which features the finalists competing for one of the coveted 40 spots to become one of the Redskins Cheerleaders.
For one of the dancers trying out, she was following in her mother’s footsteps.
Lauren, 25, from Calvert County Maryland, grew up an avid Redskins fan attending games with her family. She’s been dancing since the age of two, auditioning and becoming one of the newest members of the 2013 Redskins Cheerleading team was a dream come true.
She said her mother was a Redskins Cheerleader, but when her mom auditioned for the squad they wore a lot more clothing (Lauren laughed).
Her mom couldn’t be more proud of Lauren but because of nerves she was watching the audition by streaming on Redskins.com instead of at the State Theater.
Lauren said this past week has been very stressful, but making the team was absolutely incredible.
“It’s amazing I’ve wanted to do this my whole life. It’s overwhelming” said Lauren, with tears in her eyes and a glowing smile across her face.
