UPDATE: Redskins Mock Draft Tracker

Posted by Chris Herting on April 10, 2013 – 12:00 pm

draft-hat_blog

Since we last updated the Redskins Mock Draft Tracker, the team has re-signed CB DeAngelo Hall and QB Rex Grossman and added QB Pat White who brings a run/pass dimension similar to QB Robert Griffin III. More likely than not the team will not carry four quarterbacks into the season and White’s long-term role remains to be seen, but he at least provides the Redskins with a mobile quarterback while Griffin III is on the mend.

Re-signing cornerback DeAngelo Hall helps provide depth in the secondary heading into OTAs and offers a little bit of leeway in the draft; however, the team most likely will still need to address the secondary come April.

So how do these moves affect the experts’ Mock Draft predictions?

Headlining the Mock Drafts for the Redskins is cornerback Darius Slay from Mississippi State who was featured in two of the updated boards. Here’s an updated look at the Mock Draft boards including an addition of a prospect that may intrigue you Redskins fans!

WalterFootball.com – Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State – Updated 4/10/2013

Scouting Combine Bio: “Slay is an aggressive corner with good length. He is skilled in playing the hands of the receiver and forces incompletions because of it. Slay’s toughness translates when it comes to his run defense and special teams play. He’s going to have to prove his speed at the combine, but he should go in the middle rounds.” Click here for Slay’s complete combine profile.

DraftTek – Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State – Updated 4/9/2013

Scouting Combine Bio: “Slay is an aggressive corner with good length. He is skilled in playing the hands of the receiver and forces incompletions because of it. Last Week: Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State

Fanspeak.com – DT John Jenkins, Georgia – Updated 4/8/2013

Scouting Combine Bio: “Jenkins is a massive junior college transfer with great upside as a run-stuffer, but is limited to being a nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme because of his lack of quickness. His impressive size and strength will likely make him coveted, but needs to improve his balance and pad-level.” Click here for Jenkins’s complete combine profile.

NFL Comparison: Gabe Watson

Last Week: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State

NFL Draft Geek – David Amerson, CB/S, NC State – Updated 4/9/2013

Scouting Combine Bio: “Amerson is one of the more interesting prospects in the draft. His play making and ball skills are reminiscent of Asante Samuel. However, unlike Samuel, Amerson isn’t nearly as fluid out of his breaks or as technically sound in the fundamentals of the position. Amerisont is tall, physical, and some may project him to free safety because of his size, but it is likely that some team will take a chance on Amerson as a cornerback if he can prove that his foot quickness and fluidity are up to par.” Click here for Amerson’s complete combine profile.

NFL Comparison: Sean Smith

Last Week: Eric Reid, S, LSU

Football Fan Spot – Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut – Updated 4/2/2013

Scouting Combine Bio: “Wreh-Wilson is a tall, tough corner, with some ball skills. His length and short area quickness makes him an intriguing prospect, but his inability to quickly flip his hips and his lack of deep, recovery speed will likely limit him to a zone-based scheme.” Click here for Wreh-Wilson’s complete combine profile.

NFL Comparison: Derek Cox
