Kerrigan Throws Out First Pitch

Ryan-and-javy-lopez

Last night marked Opening Night at The Diamond, Home of the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. In attendance for the festivities was none other than your favorite Redskins LB Ryan Kerrigan, who was invited to throw out the first pitch.

For Ryan, the outing was redemption of sorts from his high school days as Muncie Central High School’s all-conference outfielder. It was Ryan’s first return to the mound since he pitched less than an inning in relief against Richmond High School (Richmond, In.) ending his short career on the mound with an 84.00 ERA.

There was no way that he was going to turn down an opportunity to relive his glory days on the diamond at The Diamond and throw out the opening pitch.

However, the evening became even more special and memorable when Ryan decided to select a youngster from the stands to come help him warm up for his milestone return. The chosen one: Josh, a freshman at Cumberland High School and catcher for Cumberland’s JV Team.

How was his return you may ask? Well after a brief warmup and stretch of the arm with Josh, he was ready.

Can Griffin III Make More History?

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 5, 2013 – 5:43 pm

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III took the NFL by storm last year, revolutionizing the quarterback position and becoming the leader of a franchise that has won three Lombardi Trophies, but had finished at the bottom of the NFC East four times in the last six years.

On April 26, 2012 the Burgundy and Gold called on the Hesiman-winning quarterback to become the next great Redskins signal caller, joining the likes of Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theismann, and Doug Williams to be under center in the Nation’s Capital. Instantly, he became the biggest star to role into the DMV in years.

Number 10 jerseys can be spotted anywhere and everywhere across the area and after leading the team to its first NFC East Title since 199, he completed his incredible professional debut with an AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award to add to his already crowded trophy case.

With his rookie season in the bag, its time for him and the rest of the Redskins to move forward and bringing home another Super Bowl Trophy is certainly at the top of the team’s goals list this year.

Griffin III has already proven to be a Superman of sorts with the pigskin, but can he be the man to eliminate the infamous “Madden Curse”?

Redskins Retain Most Starters In NFL

Posted by Chris Herting on April 5, 2013 – 11:52 am

starters

If you’ve been following the Redskins this offseason then you already know that the team has been able to retain most of last year’s championship roster. But did you know that they are the NFL’s retention leaders?

Following the re-signing of CB DeAngelo Hall, the Redskins now have more returning starters than any other team in the league with 21 of their 22 starters on both sides of the ball expected back next year (previously cited by CSN Washington’s Rich Tandler and Draftmetrics.com). That leaves unrestricted free agent safety Madieu Williams, who is still on the open market, as the lone remaining player.
