Griffin III Gives Update On Knee

Posted by Chris Herting on March 26, 2013 – 8:58 pm

Text message from Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, via Trey Wingo at ESPN, providing an update on his knee.

“My knee is getting better every day. The doctors say I’m ahead of schedule. My goal is to return healthy in week one but if I’m not ready then I will wait until I am, however long that is. My first NFL season and my injury that ended it showed me a lot about the league, my team and myself. I know where my responsibility is within the dilemma that led to me having surgery to repair my knee and all parties involved know their responsibilities as well. I’m looking forward to playing the game we all love so much again and not behind at the negative. Thanks for the overwhelming level of support that I’ve received, sic ‘em bears and hail to the redskins!!”

Take your time, that will be the key to a long and healthy career. We have waited for over 20 years for a QB we can be happy about, and enjoy watching. What will an extra month or so matter? The league will chew you up and spit you out for their own purposes. You have to be the advocate for Robert. So take YOUR time!

Robert, Good for you young man, you seem to have it all in place………how much you being healthy means to this team, Redskin Nation, and the NFL in gneral. Good luck with your rehab, looking forward to seeing you play at a top level for the next decade, so take care of yourself and thanks for the ride you took us on last season.

Great to hear Robert. Just remember that this is only the 2nd year of a very promising career for you. This team will step up and keep us in the NFC East while you heal fully. Moving forward I am sure you will be able to change the way you run so as to avoid serious hits. The extra 2-3 yards ain’t worth it if it means 2-3 years off your playing career.

Heal fast and be strong! HTTR!

Shanahan and James Andrews are fools for having left him in the Seattle game despite the very obvious pain Rg3 was in (not to mention his complete ineffectiveness after he reinjured his knee in the first quarter). A 22 year old newly immersed in the warrior culture of the NFL and trying to prove his mettle as a rookie isn’t going to pull himself from the first playoff game the Redskins had played in years. Responsible adults and medical professionals needed to protect Rg3 from himself, and they failed miserably in that regard. Now we have to hope that their cowardice doesn’t significantly curtail Rg3’s career.

RGIII, we all know how much you have done for REDSKIN NATION this pass year. Our concern is your health. Watching you play and the effort you do on every play will rely on your ability to be completely healthy for the season. So, if it’s first, or middle of the season the FANS here in DC will understand. Take your time and not push yourself to much where it could be a setback..LOVE WATCHING YOU PLAY.. GET WELL RGIII.
