Welcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.
In case you missed it, last week’s spotlight covered G Chris Chester’s newfound affinity for Bill Murray’s acting skills in the movie Space Jam, WR Dezmon Briscoe’s workout, WR Pierre Garçon getting amped up for the March Madness basketball tournament and more! You can read it in its entirety here.
More and more droves of players have been filtering in to Redskins Park of late. They come in together, they work out together, and they leave together. You can really sense camaraderie and a togetherness with this team consisting of just the right mix of youthful exuberance and veteran leadership.
Anyway, we’ll continue to bring you updates as we see players in the building. But for now, we forge ahead with this week’s social media spotlight including DE Adam Carriker’s Twitter revelation, WR Josh Morgan in the community, LB Brian Orakpo’s son gets swim lessons and visits Sea World and, of course, player reactions to March Madness!
It’s hard to keep track of QB Robert Griffin III (@RGIII on Twitter) this offseason. He’s been a busy man to say the least. Besides rehabbing six to seven hours a day at Redskins Park, he’s also traveled to New Orleans to accept his NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, had a street named after him in his hometown of Copperas Cove, Texas, was honored by the Texas Legislature, and yesterday was throwing footballs to elephants at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, yet still somehow finds time for his fans.
#ClassAct. Enough said.
Josh Morgan has been doing yeoman’s work in the community this offseason. Last weekend, he was at a special reading event for kids at the National Harbor. This weekend he played in Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith’s Charity Basketball game in Fredericksburg, In between, he was ballin’ with one of his young fans at Sport & Health.
Well done, Josh. Keep up the good work. You can follow Josh on Twitter @JoshMorgan.
It’s been awhile since we featured Adam Carriker in our social spotlight and, since he’s definitely one of the more interesting follows (@AdamCarriker94), we felt the need to share with you his Twitter revelation. We’ll let him do the talking…
Sometimes the world just starts to make more sense. #Epiphany
Brian Orakpo has been working hard spending countless hours rehabbing his shoulder so that he can return to his dominating form following a 2012 season that was cut short due to injury. Last week, however, he took a break from the weight room to spend some time with his son, “Lil’ Rak” who was taking swim lessons. Check it out!
We can only hope that Brian will teach his youngster another type of “swim” move, one that makes quarterbacks a sacked lunch…nom nom nom. You can follow Brian on Twitter @rak98.
Although we admit that it’s incredibly difficult to see in real time and we, as fans, benefit from instant replay, we can’t say that we disagree with you, Ryan. Maybe the NCAA will have to reevaluate the rule following the tournament. Redskins Nation, chime in and tell us what you think.
But we digress.
Moving on to Redskins Birthday’s this week: DE Stephen Bowen (Thursday, March 28th).
