Bracket Update: Ranking The Players

Since it’s not football season and there’s no Redskins football on TV, let’s assume that everyone’s attention has turned, at least for the next three weeks, to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Call it crazy but March Madness is a force to be reckoned with at this time of year because of all the pageantry surrounding nail-biting finishes, Cinderella stories and upsets galore.

The bottom line is that the tournament is arguably one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, other than the Super Bowl, and captivates audiences across the Nation.

Why try to fight it? Plus, Redskins players seem to be having some fun with the tournament so why can’t we?

Beathard Sees Similarities in Williams, RG3

Former Redskins Quarterback, Doug Williams says there’s nothing like playing for the Burgundy and Gold.

“I talked to Coach Gibbs during the Super Bowl. The only thing I hate about being a Redskin, was the fact that I wasn’t a Redskin all my life,” said Williams.

The Super Bowl XXII MVP,  hosted the Fifth Annual Washington Football Legends Event on Saturday, March 23rd in Washington DC. The event each year provides scholarships and minority higher education assistance. Williams said, “It’s special for me to come back to DC and present awards. It makes me feel like I still have a part in DC.” Read more »

Redskins, Ravens Hoop For Charity

On Saturday, the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens tangled for the second time in months. For those of you that don’t recall how the events unraveled between the two teams in their first encounter, just check out this video as a reminder.

On this day, the two franchise that play a mere 30 miles away from each other on Sundays during the season, were showcasing their talents in a different sports arena where the final score meant literally nothing.

Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith was holding his third annual Torrey Smith Foundation Charity Basketball Game and invited some of the NFC East champs to do battle at the rim. He and the rest of hims teammates were hoping to extract revenge for their lost at FedExField and more importantly, to raise money for his foundation.

Redskins Social Media Weekly Spotlight

Welcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.

In case you missed it, last week’s spotlight covered G Chris Chester’s newfound affinity for Bill Murray’s acting skills in the movie Space Jam, WR Dezmon Briscoe’s workout, WR Pierre Garçon getting amped up for the March Madness basketball tournament and more! More and more droves of players have been filtering in to Redskins Park of late. They come in together, they work out together, and they leave together. You can really sense camaraderie and a togetherness with this team consisting of just the right mix of youthful exuberance and veteran leadership.

Anyway, we’ll continue to bring you updates as we see players in the building. But for now, we forge ahead with this week’s social media spotlight including DE Adam Carriker’s Twitter revelation, WR Josh Morgan in the community, LB Brian Orakpo’s son gets swim lessons and visits Sea World and, of course, player reactions to March Madness!

Robert Griffin III, Sunday Fun With Family

It was a fun filled Sunday for the Griffin family at the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Robert Griffin III, even got some practice in, throwing to a 4,000 pound, wide receiver.
