As early as July 2012, before Robert Griffin III, had ever taken a NFL snap, Copperas Cove Texas, discussed naming a new section of roadway after its hometown hero…the Baylor University Alum, and Heisman Trophy winner.
Now eight months later, the idea has come true. Washington Redskins rookie quarterback, was honored on Friday with the unveiling of, Robert Griffin III Boulevard.
According to Mason W. Canales of the Killeen Daily Herald, Councilman Gary Kent said, “I think the city and Robert Griffin III will appreciate this. I think this is something that people from all around will come to see how our hometown man is appreciated here.”
Griffin attended Copperas Cave High School, where he was a three sport star in football, basketball, and track.
Here’s some footage of No. 10 during his days under center at CCHS:
And now, after this seasons NFL rookie records, and post season awards, there’s no doubt that returning home for this honor will be extremely special.

But this isn’t the first homecoming for Griffin. Remember when the rookie threw four touchdowns at “Jerry’s World” in a 38-31 defeat of the Cowboys? During several points of that game, fans at Cowboys Stadium, could be heard chanting, “RG3! RG3!”
