After a seven game win streak propelled the team to a division title and a home playoff game, Redskins fans jumped on board for the ride realizing that this year’s team was clicking on all cylinders and prepared for greatness.
However, following the team’s playoff loss against Seattle, and then after hearing the news of Robert Griffin III’s injury, there were many broken hearts throughout the DMV. It’s safe to say that despite a phenomenal season which witnessed a worst to first turnaround and number four playoff seed, Redskins fans alike were inconsolable after the aforementioned series of events.
But then, a miracle in the making happened last week. The statement heard around the world from Dr. James Andrews saying that Griffin III’s recovery is ‘way ahead of schedule’. Just hearing that statement from Dr. Andrews last week seemed to calm a few of those nerves. Yet, even with that statement, the full recovery of number ten looms in the distance and with that comes an aspect of uncertainty that makes every Redskins fan a little bit anxious.
That, however, did not stop one of the more optimistic young Redskins fans from sending the quarterback her well-wishes last month.
Mark Moore, a lifelong Redskins fan, encouraged his four year old daughter to write Griffin III a letter, one that would hopefully bring comforting thoughts and motivation to the 23-year old star.
According to Moore, “My four year old daughter brought me a piece of paper and asked me to write [Griffin III] a letter.” From there, the rest is history. It’s hard to make out the words in the picture, but here’s how the letter reads:
I hope you feel better soon. And I hope you have a very, very nice day. I really love you. And I really like the Washington Redskins. And you are very good at playing and going home and eating.
She is now drawing a picture for you!
Adorable? Yes. Inspirational? Yes. Motivational? Well, maybe it’s not motivational for Griffin III, but the letter definitely provides some motivation for Redskins fans across the world to find a pen, get out a pad of paper, and send us/Griffin III your get well soon message. Or if that’s too much effort, simply write us your message in a comment below and we’ll make sure Robert receives it.
When all is said and done, this young Redskins fan tried to find solace in a situation full of sadness and sent a comforting message to Griffin III which begs the question, why can’t we? You never know just how far words can go.
