Safety Reed Doughty is one of the longest tenured Redskins as he has donned the burgundy and gold since 2006.
He was taken with the 173rd overall pick in that year’s draft after a standout college career at the University of Northern Colorado.
While Reed is known for being a steady force on the defense and special teams units, his abilities in the classroom shouldn’t be overshadowed.
At Northern Colorado, he became the school’s first-ever three-time Academic All-American. Want to know how you can become an Academic All-American like Reed? Ace every class during your academic career like he did when he obtained a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursing a a degree in sport and exercise science.
His passion for learning has continued to spill over this offseason as he is heading back to the classroom.

NFL.com released its “All-Under-25 Team” listing the best players under the quarter century mark in age at each position.
Washington has some of the best talent under the age of 25 as quarterback Robert Griffin III, running back Alfred Morris, offensive tackle Trent Williams, and linebacker Ryan Kerrigan are incredibly talented players in their early 20’s.
Believe it or not, however, the only Redskins player to crack the list was Williams.
Russell Wilson got the nod at quarterback, LeSean McCoy and Doug Martin at the running back slots, and Aldon Smith and Von Miller at the outside linebacker positions.
While we don’t want to take anything away from the players that have been selected to the list, we want to show you why Griffin III, Morris, and Kerrigan deserve to be included on the “All-Under-25-Team”.
Check out some of the statistical comparisons at each position here:

Mother Nature graces the DMV with brisk winter breezes during the month of February, causing many to be slightly on the grouchy side at times as they wait for the flowers to bloom and for family beach vacation season to kick into gear.
Today, however, spirits among the masses seems to be a little more cheery than a usual day during the shortest month of the year. There’s been an increase in heart-shaped objects, bouquets of flowers, and people ignoring their beach-bod diets in favor of adding some chocolate to their routines.
It’s almost like there’s a feeling of love in the air.
Well folks that’s because today is Valentine’s Day, the annual day of love!
Redskins Nation has a lot to love during this holiday as we are currently under blue skies, Punxsutawney Phil ( for those of you who don’t know, Phil is the famous groundhog of Groundhog Day) saw his shadow forecasting spring is on its way, and knowing that their favorite football team shocked the league this season claiming the NFC East title may be the sweetest treat of all!
The Redskins themselves have caught the love bug and have been spending their day with loved ones.
Find out what some of the players have been doing after being struck with Cupid’s arrow here:
