Pugh Awards Passionate Student-Athlete

Imagine this:

You’re walking down the hallway to your third period physics class, wearing your letterman jacket with an impressive number of patches recognizing your athletic prowess. You’re  desperately waiting for the final school bell to chime so you can enjoy your “freedom” for the rest of the day.

Secondary school is a fundamental building block to the growth of teenagers across the nation. Ask around, and chances are you’ll get a handful of students who thoroughly enjoyed their experience as well as a group of kids who never want to go back again.

One Redskins player who loved his high school days, has been giving back to the school and program that gave him the attributes necessary to have a promising career in the NFL.

During his homecoming, he was also treated to a pleasant surprise that he won’t soon forget.

Find out why he returned home and what unexpected wonder caught his attention here:

Redskins safety Jordan Pugh attended Plano West Senior High School in the rabid football town of Plano, Texas, just minutes from downtown Dallas. It was there where he excelled on the field and in the classroom earning a high grade point average and receiving scholarship offers from some of the top programs in the country.

After being named the No. 13 overall cornerback prospect and wowing scouts across the nation, he ultimately decided to stay close to home and attended Texas A&M University.

He continued his path of dominance, becoming a three year starter for the Aggies. He showed his versatility throughout his time in College Station, seeing action at every position in the secondary. He started 37 games and accumulated 221 tackles, 19 passes defensed, and four interceptions in his collegiate career. After a sensational senior season, Pugh was selected as an All-Big 12 Conference honorable mention.

After the unfortunate season-ending injury to rookie safety Jordan Bernstine in the team’s week one victory over the New Orleans Saints, the Redskins signed Pugh. He played a key role in the secondary during the team’s seven game winning streak, posting 12 tackles and showing a persistence to make clutch plays.

He returned to Plano to give back to the current student-athlete population and award one athlete in particular for his efforts.

The Jordan Pugh Pushing Upward Going Higher Award is given to a student athlete who goes above and beyond the call of duty. The recipient shows a high-level of purpose, passion, and performance throughout their career at Plano West.

As he was strolling through the halls and recollecting fond memories of his days as a Wolf, he was in utter shock upon finding his old jersey concealed in a glass case, signaling his inclusion as one of the greatest players to ever play for Plano West.

Congratulations Jordan on your jersey retirement!

I am a Redskins diehard, everybody. I keep reading that Rob Jackson will be leaving. I think we should resign Jackson, keep him at ROLB ( he creates turnovers) and move Brian Orapko to DE.This move would enhance our defense and make it really tough. I also think we should move Maurice Hurt to RT where he played real well against Philly on 12/23.Tom Compton would move up to top reserve. Maybe sign Chris Clemons from the Dolphins to play safety, which would definetly be an upgrade over Madieu Williams. Draft a corner like Poyer from Oregon State in the 2nd roundt, and we are good to go.Let me know what you think, when you get a chance. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS.

@Scott I love all the ideas and enspecially Poyer hes awesome! II do think we should look at Tyrann Mathieu. He is a ballhawk and i think our team can keep him in check. Also a look at Safety T.J McDonald or Bacarri Rambo. They both are great tacklers who would be subs at first, and then eventually emerge as starters. Lastly maybe even a run at Ray Ray Armstrong.

I also really like Brandon Williams. DT who weights 340+ and who is strong as hell, hes not even fat thats the scary part, its all muscle.
