Armed Forces Super Bowl Tour Update

Posted by Chris Herting on February 1, 2013 – 12:18 pm

Armed Forces Entertainment hosts more than 1,200 shows around the world each year, reaching more than 500,000 personnel at 270 military locations.

As part of the official Department of Defense, the agency’s mission is to provide “entertainment to U.S. military personnel overseas.”

Furthermore, “Armed Forces Entertainment and its performers have the honor of supporting soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors by bringing them the very best in American entertainment.”

Celebrities, musicians, comedians, cheerleaders and athletes are recruited to perform for the troops. The agency says, “It’s their way of saying “thank you” for the sacrifices U.S. military personnel make during their tour of duty.”

Three Redskins players are currently on tours entertaining troops worldwide. Tight End Niles Paul and Fullback Darrel Young are representing the Redskins on the Japan Super Bowl Tour (January 28 – February 5) and FB Eric Kettani, who attended Navy before pursuing a career in football, is on the Alaska Super Bowl Tour (January – February 4).

We’ve combed their Twitter accounts, we’ve stalked their Instagram accounts, and now it’s time to show you how the players are faring on their respective tours. (Warning: Do not attempt some of these stunts at home)

TE Niles Paul – You can follow Niles on Twitter (@Niles_Paul84) or on Instagram (also @Niles_Paul84)

Unfortunately, Darrel doesn’t have a Twitter and/or Instagram but we can assure you that his good friend Niles is sharing plenty of photos for the both of them.

FB Eric Kettani – You can follow Eric on Twitter (@EricKettani)

Redskins Nation, let’s first take a minute to say thank you to the military personnel who fight so that we may live free and then give a round of applause for Niles, Darrel, and Eric for taking the time to visit the troops.

    Dear Redskins owners,management and coaches,

I want to personally thank Mr. Niles Paul (#84) and Darrel Young (#36) for taking time out of their busy schedules to fly to Misawa Air Base an spend time with Soldiers, Sailors an Airmen assigned in Northern Japan on what we call Superbowl Monday. We really enjoyed Mr. Paul’s singing at the enlisted club. Please tell them thanks for the awesome visit. I am a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, but want to tell you that you have world class players and organization. I am retiring in 1 March 2013 with 30 years of service and Mr. Paul and Mr. Youn made my last week memorable.

v/r Chief Master Sergeant John Gammage
