After 30 seasons of showing up to every  home game and becoming a fixture among the best fan base in the National Football League, the Washington Redskins Hogettes have announced that they will be hanging up their snouts and dresses for good.

It’s bittersweet news for the legendary Redskins fan group, which has officially retired and will no longer appear together. The good news? The Hogettes plan on continuing their tremendous work raising money for children’s charities.

The Hogettes released this official statement on their Website today:

“After 30 seasons, the Hogettes® are hanging up our pig snouts & dresses. It has been an honor being a part of the greatest 12th Man fans in the NFL. We will forever be Redskins’ fans and cheer for our beloved team. It is a new era and we will continue to support RG3 and his teammates. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!! We will also continue to help (incognito) raise money for Children’s Charities.”

gonna miss seeing those guys in the front row of the stadium. The were good 12th man leaders. They originated when the skins had a hall of fame offensive line. They will be missed but they are going to continue their charity mission and that is good. HTTR!!!!!

I have been teary eyed all day! I have had the honor of working closely with them for the last few years. Last year they helped raise thousands of dollars for charity. My favorite is walking into a child’s hospital room at Children’s Hospital; the look of pure innocent joy on a child’s face seeing them will melt your heart. My Redskin family feels broken right now and I do not think most people realize how much they do for not only our team and fan base but our community.

Yes, clearly a new season for Skins fans everywhere. I worked closely for years with Michael Torbert (aka Mikey T) at the Dept of Energy and can say you’d have to walk far and wide to meet someone as genuine and giving…and such a hoot to play golf with! Thanks Michael and guys for all you’ve done for Redskins fans over the years, and for lightening so many children’s hearts in unimaginably difficult times. The Redskins nation will miss you…God Bless and enjoy retirement!!!
