Today’s update: the keys of Sunday’s NFC Wild Card round playoff game between the Washington Redskins and the Seattle Seahawks, and the status of Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and what the Washington defense needs to do to stop the Seattle offense.

Season-Ending Power Rankings Roundup

Not bad for a team ranked among the bottom fourth of the league to begin the season.

The Washington Redskins not only surprised the entire league with their seven-game win streak to end the regular season, but they also surprised the league’s various experts and analysts charged with putting together their weekly NFL Power Rankings.

It took a while for some of them to accept the Redskins as a Top-10 team throughout their current seven-game winning streak. But when the dust settled on the 2012 regular season, Washington was right where it deserved to be.

How You Voted: Redskins-Cowboys

It’s time to take a look at your psychic skills for last Sunday’s Redskins-Cowboys game, as well as which player was picked by Redskins fans at the Most Valuable Player of the game.

The Redskins, of course, won 28-18 on Sunday Night Football, claiming their first NFC East title since 1999 and first playoff appearance since 2007. Several Redskins players had great performances, but let’s first look at who you predicted would have a breakout performance against Dallas:

Redskins Have First 5-0 December Ever

December 2012

It was something perhaps the Mayans were trying to prevent.

Prior to this season, the Washington Redskins had played five games in the month of December five times in their 79 years as an NFL franchise. Never had they run the table in those opportunities.

That all changed this season with a Washington team playing inspired football and in the hunt — at the very least — for a spot in the playoffs. Read more »
