VIDEO: Griffin III Consoles Romo On Field

Posted by Andrew Walker on January 2, 2013 – 9:57 pm

There weren’t many people at FedExField last Sunday who felt bad for Tony Romo.

But after Romo threw three interceptions in the 28-18 loss to the Redskins — including a pick late in the fourth quarter to outside linebacker Rob Jackson that led to Washington’s final touchdown — the Dallas Cowboys quarterback had at least one supporter wearing burgundy and gold.

Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III approached Romo on the field after the game as the two teams headed to their respective locker rooms and gave the Cowboys quarterback some words of encouragement.

“Hey Tony,” Griffin III said, “I just wanted to say to you — don’t listen to what anybody else is saying about you. You’re a great quarterback, man. And this game doesn’t mean anything.”

Romo seemed to appreciate the gesture.

“Go do your thing,” he told Griffin III as he patted his back.

Though just a rookie, Griffin III has earned the respect of several veterans around the league. Now you know exactly why.

Griffin III understood that Romo was going to face much scrutiny for not having his best performance in another win-or-go-home game, so he did what he could to say something encouraging.

We can only hope Griffin III is mic’d up several more times in the coming years. Stay tuned to the Redskins Blog tonight for the full Griffin III Mic’d Up video.

RGIII is one of the best things that’s happened to the Redskins in a long time. We’re blessed to have him on the team. He seems level headed and down to earth and plays the game with grace and heart.

You know why RGIII said that? BECAUSE ROMO IS A GREAT QB. The Skins defense was finally HAWKING and trying to STRIP. SO LET”S GIVE CREDIT TO OUR DEFENSE – HTTR !!!! Our CBs finally backpeddled and watched the QB and took a few. THAT was OUR defense. Romo isn’t bad – two INTs were tipped. And for the Seattle birdies…. well, you’ll see. NFC is NOT going down.

I agree about our defense!! Like RG3 said nice things to Romo but didn’t like he said”this game don’t mean anything” it meant a lot to us as fans! It was a magical night! You could feel it in the air at FedEx!!!

They are getting ready to discuss this topic on First Take.. Think they will question RG3 statement bout this game not meaning anything??!! I do!!

What RGIII said meant “This game did nothing to lessen your greatness as a QB” not “This game had no meaning”. The comment in context was encouragement to a fallen foe. Just one more example of the maturity and class of Robert Griffib III.

Hey I just wanted to say that I live in the dallas area and have been here since 1980, I watched sundays game with a lot of the guys I coach football with and a lot of our players. It was a mixed crowd granted the cowboys fans outnumbered the Redskins fans but we were still mixed pretty good. I am a die hard Redskin fan and have been ever since I started watching football ane I want to say this Romo is a very good backup QB and nothing more. Even the cowboy fans that are here in dallas will tell you that well the majority of em anyways. The guy is great for about 11 or 12 games then when it starts gettin to crunch time he chokes and the worst part about it is that its not his fault. All of the cowboys mistakes and losses fall right on facelift Jerry Jones shoulders.

RGIII did not mean the “game” as in redskins vs cowboys people… He meant as in Romo’s overall accomplishments as a QB to not let what everyone will say that’s negative to affect him since it was just one game, he had a bad day, that doesn’t mean he’s bad. Think about it
