The Washington Redskins defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 28-18, tonight at FedExField to claim their first NFC East title since 1999 — while sending the rival Cowboys home for good in the process. Washington (10-6), winners of seven straight, will play host to the Seattle Seahawks at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at FedExField in the first round of the playoffs.
The Redskins won tonight with a key performance from rookie running back Alfred Morris, who broke Clinton Portis’ single-season Redskins’ rushing record in the third quarter with a 10-yard run. Morris finished his day with 33 carries for 200 yards and three touchdowns.

YOU PICK: Who Shines Vs. Cowboys?
Posted by on December 30, 2012 – 1:55 pmThe Washington Redskins (9-6) tonight make their final push for a playoff spot as they play host to the Dallas Cowboys (8-7) at FedExField.
Going into today’s games, the Redskins sit atop the NFC East standings, and a win would claim the division title and earn a home playoff game next weekend. They can clinch a Wild Card spot if the Chicago Bears lose to the Detroit Lions and if the Minnesota Vikings lose to the Green Bay Packers.
The Cowboys’ odds of making the playoffs are simple: win, and they’re in (and, due to tiebreakers, are NFC East champs). A loss, and they go home.
You can bet there will be some awesome individual performances for the Redskins players, who will be amped up in front of what is sure to be an awesome crowd here in Landover, Md.
So, with that in mind, here’s your chance to get out that crystal ball and predict which Redskins player you think will stand out tonight against the Cowboys:

NFL Films: The Origin Of A Rivalry
Posted by on December 30, 2012 – 9:43 amIt started out, oddly enough, with a yet-to-be established NFL franchise and a fight song.
More than 50 years later, the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys continue to do battle twice a year as divisional foes and bitter rivals.
The series adds its next chapter tonight, when the Redskins play host to the Cowboys in a nationally-televised game that will determine the NFC East champion.
It’s perhaps the third most important game in the Redskins-Cowboys series history, right behind the 1972 and 1982 NFC Championship games, both of which resulted in Washington wins.
According to the NFL Films video above — which was originally presented in 1991′s “NFL’s Greatest Rivalries” — it all started in 1960, when the Cowboys were an NFL expansion franchise. The Redskins had been dominating the South airwaves, something that a franchise in Texas would threaten and something Washington owner George Preston Marshall wasn’t going to give up without a fight.
