#DALvsWAS: Halftime Summations

After a scoreless first quarter, the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys finally got on the scoreboard in the second quarter here at FedExField.

Going into halftime, the Redskins and the Cowboys are tied at 7 in this win-or-go-home battle to end the regular season.

Here’s some key plays from each drive of the second quarter:

1st and 10 <22: DeMarco Murray is stuffed for a loss of three. He runs really hard, though.
2nd and 13 <19: Romo is hit hard by linebacker Perry Riley, but is just able to find tight end Jason Witten for a gain of seven.
3rd and 6 <26: Romo finds Dwayne Harris, who’s wide open across the middle for a 25-yard gain. The speedster also had a nice punt return in the first quarter.
1st and 10 >49: Felix Jones runs for nine yards to the right.
2nd and 1 >40: Jones again for four yards and the first down.
1st and 10 >36: Romo finds Dez Bruant for a gain of of 17 yards. Safety Madieu Williams take a hard hit on the play and was being attended to on the field before walking off on his own power.
1st and 10 >19: Murray gets four yards on the run.
2nd and 6 >15: Murray gets another five yards for the first down.
1st and Goal >10: Murray gets three yards.
2nd and Goal >7: Murray, for a fourth straight run, is stopped for a loss of two yards. Nice play by safety Reed Doughty there.
3rd and Goal >9: Romo — who didn’t get the snap off before the play clock struck zero — throws a nine-yard touchdown to tight end Jason Witten.
Extra point: Kicker Dan Bailey’s kick is good.

7:59: Cowboys 7, Redskins 0; Scoring drive: 13 plays, 89 yards, 7:37.

Kickoff: Returned 17 yards to the Washington 32-yard line by Evan Royster.


1st and 10 >32: Griffin III’s pass intended for Joshua Morgan is incomplete. The quarterback had all time to throw, and just coul
2nd and 10 >32: Morris finds three yards via the run.
3rd and 7 >35: Griffin III finds tight end Logan Paulsen, who makes a nice catch up high and hands onto the ball while being brought down to the ground to get the first down.1st and 10 >43: Morris runs for 13 yards to the Dallas 44-yard line.
1st and 10 <44: Morris again rips off a nice run, this time for 12 yards. He needed 104 yards to break Clinton Portis’ Redskins’ single-season rushing record. That run gives Morris 75.
1st and 10 <32: Griffin III takes the read option run and dives forward after a nine-yard gain.
2nd and 1 <23: Royster gets the handoff and diligently gets a six-yard gain to his right
1st and 10 <17: Morris runs 17 yards to his left for the touchdown. Morris breaks the 1,500-yard mark for the season on the run (the sixth rookie in NFL history to do so), which was blocked perfectly by the line and the receivers.
Extra point: Kai Forbath’s kick is good.

3:28: Redskins 7, Cowboys 7; Scoring drive: 8 plays, 68 yards, 4:31.

Kickoff: Returned to the Dallas 22-yard line.


1st and 10 <22: Romo gets an 11-yard completion to his best friend, Witten.
1st and 10 <33: Romo beats the blitz with an eight-yard pass to tight end James Hanna.
2nd and 3 <41: Murray gets the first down with a four-yard gain.
1st and 10 <45: Romo connects with Witten again, this time for five yards.
2nd and 5 ><50: Romo finds Bryant wide open across the middle for a 15-yard gain.
2nd and 10 <35: After a Dallas incompletion, Romo is rocked again by the blitzing cornerback, Josh Wilson, but finds Witten for a 1-yard completion along the sideline. That was almost a huge sack for Washington.
3rd and 9 <34: Romo’s pass intended for Bryant is incomplete, and Dallas sends out the punt unit.
4th and 9 <34: Brian Moorman’s punt goes into the end zone for a touchback.


1st and 10 >20: Royster runs for three yards to run out the clock.
