AccuScore Projects ‘Skins-Cowboys Game

AccuScore is back this week for the final time in the 2012 regular season with some wacky statistical projections and predictions for tonight’s game between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.

Last Sunday, AccuScore had the Redskins winning in 60 percent of its 10,000 computer simulations against the lowly Philadelphia Eagles. This time around, with the NFC East title on the line, the game is expected to be much closer.

This week’s AccuScore projections have much to do with the rushing attack of the Redskins. If running back Alfred Morris is able to out-duel Cowboys running back DeMarco Murrary — and if Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III can put together a nice day scrambling with the ball — then Washington’s chances of winning increase dramatically.

Here’s the highlights of today’s AccuScore predictions for Redskins-Cowboys, according to ESPN:

– Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a 70-plus yard edge in passing, but the Redskins have a 60-plus yard edge in rushing.
– If Morris has 70-plus rushing yards and Griffin III has 40-plus rushing yards, then Washington is a 74-percent favorite.
– If Murray has more rushing yards than Morris, then Dallas is the 71-percent favorite.
– If Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant has 100-plus receiving yards and two-plus touchdowns, then Dallas is 61-percent favorites.
– If Griffin III has 250-plus yards passing and 50-plus rushing yards, then Washington is the 60-percent favorite.
– AccuScore is going with the Redskins at 51 percent (5,100) out of 10,000 simulations.
